Ken Starr Explains Why Jerry Nadler's Assertions About Impeachment Are Garbage

Happy impeachment day, part two.

Nancy Pelosi finally decided to wave the white flag, call off her ridiculous gambit of stalling the process, and had the articles of impeachment targeting Trump over to the Senate. This came in the form of much pomp and circumstance, including trays of pens for her to hand out as souvenirs.

Meanwhile, she also appointed impeachment managers and one of those is Jerry Nadler. For his part, he’s had a consistent refrain since the initial vote to impeach Donald Trump. Namely, that he has “overwhelming” evidence that Trump committed an impeachable offense, to the point where there is no reasonable doubt left to be had.

The problem is that Democrats are, at the same time, demanding new evidence and witnesses. Those things don’t jive.

Ken Starr of Clinton impeachment fame chimed in to point out the obvious fallacies at play.

Incoherence is certainly a good term to describe what we are seeing.

Starr feels that Nadler is the weak link in Pelosi’s picks as impeachment managers. I can’t disagree. While Adam Schiff is certainly a dishonest, terrible politician, he’s also fairly underhanded and cunning. Nadler, in contrast, is lumbering and clumsy. He often says things that make no sense, he has no ability to massage a talking point, and he has the leadership skills of a stump.

The only reason Nadler was appointed is because of his seniority within his caucus. No one is going to confuse him with a great strategist. Of course, the same can be said of Nancy Pelosi, who has botched this process from the beginning.

But Nadler’s assertion that the case is airtight is simply untrue. We know it’s untrue by his own demands for more witnesses and the fact that Schiff is still leaking “evidence” as we speak. The truth is that this is the weakest impeachment attempt in American history. There is no high crime or misdemeanor spelled out and the abuse of power charges are laughable on their face.

Yet, because it’s 2020 and going after the orange man is all Democrats know how to do, we get to live through a few more months of this stupidity. Hopefully, the full brunt of a major backlash hits them square in the face when it’s all over.
