You just knew the hot takes were coming, and boy are some of these scorching.

If you’ve been keeping up with the news, the U.S. Embassy in Iraq is currently under siege by Iranian militias. Despite laughably being described as “mourners” by mainstream media outlets, they are indeed terrorists controlled by the Mullahs. The U.S. military responded by deploying 100 Marines and sending Apache helicopters in to provide air support. They are currently on scene to maintain security. Meanwhile, all the arms of the State Department are moving to pressure the Iraqi government to fix this or face the consequences. Further action against Iran itself is also expected.

Despite the swift actions taken by the President and the success so far, Democrats and their allies are rushing to take shots because of course they are.

Elizabeth Warren tried this shtick as well, pretending that Iranian aggression is some new phenomenon in the region.

Trump’s reckless decisions to walk away from the Iran Deal and now to launch airstrikes in Iraq without Iraqi government consent have brought us closer to war and endangered U.S. troops and diplomats. We should end the forever wars, not start new ones.

See, this is all Trump’s fault. Before him, Iran was a bastion of peace, not lashing out nor funding terrorism all over the Middle East. And Trump should have totally just sat on his hands after Iranian forces launched rockets at Americans last week, killing a contractor and injuries others. The modern Democrat party has literally become an arm of the Iranian propaganda machine. They are taking the side of Islamist maniacs because orange man bad.

But perhaps the dumbest takes of all from the left came in the form of asserting this is “Trump’s Benghazi.” In fact, some seemed to be actively rooting for it to devolve into that, because what’s a few American lives if it gives an opening to attack Trump?

Except for the immediate, overwhelming response, no one being injured, and the embassy not falling into terrorist hands, this is exactly like Benghazi. Or better yet, it’s nothing like Benghazi because Trump didn’t leave people to die, force them to extract themselves, and claim that air support an hour’s flight away couldn’t be deployed over the course of the entire ordeal.

The truth is, this attack is only taking place because of the failed appeasement attempt by the Obama administration. They handed the Iranian regime billions of dollars while insisting they would moderate. To no one’s surprise, that hasn’t happened at all and things have only gotten worse. These militias far predate Trump’s presidency and they’ve been killing Americans going back to the Bush years.

What’s happening today is yet another indictment of the know nothing foreign policy establishment which has gotten it’s way for the last 30 years. The invasion of Iraq has been a disaster, bolstered Iran’s influence, and cost hundreds of thousands of lives. Attempts to use this to bash Trump are ridiculous. Everyone with an ounce of intellectual honesty knows where the blame really lies.
