Today, we finally received the much lauded Inspector’s General report on the Trump-Russia investigation. Despite some of the spin, it’s pretty brutal in exposing widespread FBI and DOJ malfeasance. Horowitz may not have been able to connect bias with direct testimony or documentation, but the sheer number of “missteps” leaves little to the imagination. RedState will continue to roll out those revelations as the day goes on.
Meanwhile, John Durham, who’s running a criminal investigation into the matter has broken his silence in what is a pretty stunning statement.

This is highly unusual, as like Robert Mueller did until earlier this year, Durham has remained a shadowy figure, simply not commenting on his investigation, nor the news of the day. For him to come out and make this statement carries some serious weight.
In it, we see him state what many of speculated, i.e. that Durham has far more power at his disposal to gather evidence, compel testimony, and go outside the agency. If Durham didn’t have something to deliver, there’s noway he’d make this statement essentially revealing he has evidence Horowitz doesn’t have and that he disagrees with Horowitz’s assessment. This points to some fireworks still left to go off once the DOJ’s probe wraps up. If there was nothing there, Durham would have no reason to stick his neck out with this statement. The fact that he did says some people should sleep a little less comfortably tonight.
Durham’s statement comes on the heels of AG Bill Barr also letting his thoughts be known (and he’s not happy about what went down). I’m generally cynical about this entire ordeal, but perhaps we’ll see some people brought to justice in the end? Time will tell.
