James Comey Was Spying On Loretta Lynch

James Comey really had a thing for spying on people I guess. But don’t call it spying. Call it “human surveillance” so as not to offend the sensibilities of the media.

A new report has come out, based on a coming book by Pulitzer winning journalist James B. Stewart, in which it is revealed that former FBI Dir. Comey had a high level informant placed inside then Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s office.

This via The New York Post.

Lynch had made major career advances in the 1990s under President Bill Clinton — and her boss, President Barack Obama, plainly supported Hillary’s candidacy. Plus, Obama was also implicated in the scandal, since he’d exchanged multiple emails with Clinton at her non-government address — a fact they were all keeping from the public.

Stewart reports that Comey’s “highly placed informant” indicated that Lynch wouldn’t let the FBI investigation add to Clinton’s woes. An email reportedly from the head of the Democratic National Committee assured a civilian that “Lynch wouldn’t let the Clinton investigation get very far, suggesting that Lynch would protect Clinton,” Stewart writes.

There are two parts to this. One, the fact that Comey was running an informant against his own boss (the DOJ oversees the FBI) is pretty shocking. This guy apparently just had no boundaries at all. It’s like he was trying to be a the modern day J. Edgar Hoover but without the secret sex life.

The other, perhaps more newsworthy aspect of this is that Lynch was sandbagging the investigation to help Clinton. That’s been long suspected and multiple pieces of evidence have come out over the years pointing that direction. This may be the most direct accusation yet and it matches up exactly with what transpired. While Lynch claimed she was sitting on the sidelines, essentially recused without being recused, she knew the decision to not go after Hillary had already been passed down by her own DOJ. The game was rigged even while she was smiling for the cameras and claiming she’d do whatever the FBI wanted.

At this point, all these revelations are more intriguing that actionable. It’s not illegal for Comey to do what he did and Lynch is certainly not a sympathetic character herself. What it does show is just how underhanded these people were. Power was simply something to be abused and politics played a central role in many things they did.
