Last week, I wrote on a story that was mostly overlooked, despite being pretty big news. Namely, that the Southern District of New York, which had been promoted for years as being Trump’s coming downfall, closed their case against Trump and his organization with no further charges coming.

Judge William H. Pauley III announced that prosecutors in the Southern District of New York revealed this development to the court in a status report, as media companies including The New York Times, Associated Press, CNN, and Dow Jones & Co. have pushed to unseal the search warrant materials related to the case. The end of the investigation likely means no additional charges will be filed against anyone, including the president.

And with that, a collective scream went out among the #resistance. Their last, great hope had crashed and burned, showing itself to be just another dud in the road to take down Donald Trump. The SDNY was supposed to do the job Robert Mueller didn’t do. This time it was supposed to be different. They were the “existential” threat to Trump’s presidency and his family. Lots of “really smart” people told me so on cable news and in editorials at The New York Times.

Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. In the end, the SDNY didn’t have the goods and closed up shop.

That’s no reason to let the media off the hook though. Here’s a killer montage of just how delusional they were in fluffing the SDNY as the coming deus ex machina to take out Trump.

In the montage, you can see foaming at the mouth predictions that Trump would be arrested leaving the White House, that his children would be hauled off the prison, and that there was noway the SDNY was going to let this go without getting “justice.” Will those people apologize or admit they were wrong? Nah, they’ll move onto the next conspiracy theory like they always do.

Adam Schiff was on the Sunday shows just this past weekend insisting that the DOJ may reopen the case after Trump leaves office. That’s not going to happen, but it does show the kind of sickness we are dealing with. These are not sane people.

But good job as always to our intrepid, virtuous media. I can’t imagine why they have absolutely no credibility at this point.
