We truly are in the dumbest timeline.
Not content with just freaking out about Trump having tanks at the Fourth of July festivities, the left decided they needed another shiny object to bat around leading up to Independence Day. Enter washed up, below average QB Colin Kaepernick. He apparently runs Nike now and personally lobbied to get a pair of sneakers cancelled that featured the famed “Betsy Ross flag.”
You know, the one once brandished at the inauguration of noted white supremacist Barack Obama.

Until five minutes ago, absolutely no one was even aware that they should be offended by the Betsy Ross flag. Like all things in politics these days though, it quickly became dogma on the left that the original American flag is a violent symbol of racist oppression. Some of us tried to warn others that it was going to come to this but we were called crazy. I can remember during the original days of the Kaepernick kneeling ordeal when we were assured his protests had nothing to do with the flag itself. Life comes at you fast.
Enter MSNBC’s Michael Eric Dyson. He’s a noted race baiter who’s made a living convincing people they are aggrieved in order to raise his profile.
This was his scorching hot take on the entire episode.

MSNBC anchor Hallie Jackson asked Dyson to address the argument that Nike’s decision to pull the shoes was “PC culture run amok.”
“Words matter. Symbols matter, too,” Dyson said. “Why don’t we wear a swastika for July 4th? Because, I don’t know, it makes a difference. The cross burning on somebody’s lawn. Why don’t we just have a Nike celebration of the cross—those symbols are symbols of hate. So we can take PC culture back.”
We’ve reached a level of stupidity that is hard to comprehend.
If you had shown black Americans a picture of the Betsy Ross flag a month ago and polled them on whether they thought it was offensive, 99% of them would have said no. Thinking the original American flag is a symbol of racism has never been a thing outside of the crazed halls of academics with too much time on their hands. But faux outrage is the way of the political world these days and it’s never in short supply.
Slavery as an institution was certainly evil. It was also a widespread cultural construct around the world at the time of the Revolutionary War. America would work through its original sin like so many other countries did. That doesn’t make the American flag and it’s vital ideals of individual freedom the equivalent to the Nazis or the KKK burning crosses. Only an absolute moron with no ability to see nuance would make such a comment.
Furthermore, the Betsy Ross flag being demeaned here was designed by a Christian woman who was vehemently against slavery. So what exactly is the left protesting here? Kaepernick no doubt had no actual knowledge of its history when he pressed Nike on this. Even more ridiculous, he’s siding with the British by default here, who not only had the institution of slavery themselves at the time, but were an oppressive, dictatorial monarchy lording over whites and blacks alike.
Makes sense.

Meanwhile, the former Super Bowl XLVII loser has no problem with Fidel Castro or Nike colluding with the Chinese on product decisions, because we all know the United States is the only source of true evil in this world.
Anyone checked on that sweet meteor of death lately?
This all ends with Democrats putting forth a bill to dynamite Mount Rushmore, doesn’t it? https://t.co/fCPkwzmJA5
