Trump Pounces on Pelosi After She Calls for His Imprisonment

Yesterday, I reported on the fact that Nancy Pelosi told Jerry Nadler that she didn’t want to see Trump impeached, she wanted to see him in prison.

While I’ve personally got very little problem with politicians taking swipes like this (as if Democrats didn’t call for the jailing of George Bush, this isn’t a new thing), it’s worth noting that the media and liberals lost their ever loving minds when people would say “lock her up” in relation to Hillary Clinton.

So perhaps they’d give Pelosi some pushback here? You know, since it’s so bad to target your political opponents via charges of criminality (even when they are obviously valid as in the case of Clinton).

Nah, they instead decided to play it as a “Republicans pounce” story because that’s what they always do. You see, the story isn’t the incredible hypocrisy of Pelosi saying what she said, it’s that Trump responded to it.

While Pelosi’s original remarks didn’t warrant a write-up from The Washington Post because that would mean holding a consistent standard, Trump saying this got their juices flowing.

President Trump attacked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in an interview that aired Thursday night as “a nasty, vindictive, horrible person” in his first public comments since reports that she told colleagues she would like to see him in prison rather than impeached.

“I think she’s a disgrace,” Trump said on Fox News. “I actually don’t think she’s a talented person. I’ve tried to be nice to her because I would have liked to have gotten some deals done. She’s incapable of doing deals. She’s a nasty, vindictive, horrible person.”

Sounds pretty truthy to me. Pelosi is as underhanded as they come and this was on display just a few weeks ago when she trashed Trump publicly as a criminal just moments before going into a meeting trying to strike a deal over infrastructure. Maybe that’s how two-faced and listless career politicians are in Washington D.C. but to normal people, that’s nasty, vindictive behavior.

Not content with just being hypocritical via omission of criticism of Pelosi, the Post ran a story this morning bemoaning the “flip-flopping” by Sean Hannity on jailing political opponents.

What’s worse? An admitted partisan political figure like Hannity changing his stance or a supposed hard news agency holding two completely different standards when it’s a Republican who’s being targeted? I’m going to go with the latter but the Post always think it’s Republicans who are the story. We pounce, we seize, and we even pounce on our own pouncing.

Consistency in media simply doesn’t exist. If they held any actual journalistic standards, they’d be calling out Pelosi’s call to jail Trump the same way they went after him for saying the same about Hillary. At least in one case we had a clearly defined statute she had violated.

At least we get the comedic value of seeing them now try to excuse such behavior. Hypocrisy is part of the job I guess.
