Rahm Emanuel Is Now a Contributing Editor for The Atlantic and It's Everything Wrong With the Press

Rahm Emanuel has only been out of office a few days but he’s already back in the spotlight.

He finished his tenure as one of Chicago’s worst mayors ever just 48 hours ago, being involved in multiple corruption scandals and presiding over murder rates comparable to war zones. In the real world, that would earn Emanuel a trip to a quiet retirement and professional scorn. But Democrats don’t live in the real world.

Instead, Emanuel was just hired to be a contributing editor for The Atlantic.

Keep in mind, this is a guy who hid evidence that the official narrative about the police shooting of Laquan McDonald was a lie. You’d think the liberal media might have an issue with that but he’s got plot armor. Not only is he a Democrat, but he was Barack Obama’s right hand man during his first term.

This is especially ironic because The Atlantic is the same outfit that fired Kevin Williamson days after hiring him simply for musing on a hypothetical about abortion. That apparently triggers employees at The Atlantic, but helping create an environment where nearly 3,000 people a year are shot does nothing to their sensibilities.

Emanuel’s corruption goes far past policing issues though. He also broke the law numerous times in regards to records requests, knowing he’d be protected by the Democrat led prosecutor’s office in Chicago.

His general policies were also a disaster. Financially, he ran the city into the ground and passed left-wing regulations that fueled the housing and education crisis.

Despite the realities of his time as mayor, Emanuel’s first article as a new editor is entitled It’s Time to Hold American Elites Accountable for Their Abuses. No, I’m not making that up. One of the most corrupt mayoral failures of the past two decades is now going to lecture Americans about corruption and holding “elites” accountable. The sheer lack of shame among our garbage political class is astonishing.

Oh, and he’ll also be joining ABC as a contributor, because being a liberal corruptocrat is apparently part of their hiring guidelines.

I’m sure all of this will do wonders for rehabilitating the credibility of the media, which has cratered to the point of parody. As ratings and viewership fall at major publications and channels like CNN, you’d think that would be a sign to change what they are doing. Nope, they are just doubling down and perhaps we are better for it. At least we know where they stand.

Emanuel’s hiring is everything that is wrong with the press and they deserve all the flack they get.
