The Media Are Shown to Be Fools (Again) After a Rocket Nearly Strikes the Iraqi Embassy

A few days ago the Pentagon, along with the President’s support, made the call to pull diplomatic personnel out of the Iraqi Embassy and several other sites.

Because everything Trump does must be opposed, this immediately set off mockery and claims from the media that it was all just for show, i.e. that Iran wasn’t really a threat but that the President wanted to present them as one.

A certain British General became the only authority on the issue the press cared about after he challenged the President’s actions by claiming there was no higher threat level. You can find that story being pushed by MSNBC, CNN, and NBC, just to name a few. Suddenly, a single U.K. general trumped the entirety of the U.S. intelligence apparatus simply because he fit the narrative.

The very next day, The Washington Post gave prime real estate to failed novelist and Obama bro Ben Rhodes to spew all kinds of nonsense about how there was no actual threat to U.S. personnel in Baghdad.

Days later, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned that any attacks from Iran or its proxies would be met with a “swift and decisive U.S. response.” The State Department has drawn down some of our personnel in nearby Baghdad, again citing unspecified threats from Iran.

Our allies have contradicted this view: Speaking at the Pentagon this week, a British major general stated, “There’s been no increased threat from Iranian-backed forces in Iraq and Syria.”

Welp, so much for that.

Wait, you mean the President wasn’t just making things up to make the innocent Iranians look like the bad guys? You mean Iran actually does fund Iraqi militias that threaten U.S. personnel? Who could have possibly foreseen this?

The sheer amount of bias in the mainstream media is just disgraceful. All week we saw major publicans openly take the side of an Islamic dictatorship in order to get their shots in at Trump. The press printed literally dozens of op-eds disputing the threat level and claiming the U.S. was trying to bait Iran into a war.

The reality is that Iran is a bad actor. They were under Obama, before Obama, and they continue to be one today. No amount of partisan hate for the President should cause so many Americans to openly side with an adversary, yet that’s exactly what we’ve seen happen.

For proof of that, read the responses to The Washington Post tweet above. It’s full of people accusing the U.S. of creating a false flag attack to unfairly blame Iran. That’s the level of delusion many are living under simply because their opposition to Trump is so pervasive.

Will the media learn anything from this and perhaps hold their fire next time? Nah, they’ll keep making the same mistakes. It’s just who they are.
