Ben Rhodes has a rather tattered history with the truth and that doesn’t appear to be changing.
As part of the “scandal free” Obama White House, he got caught in multiple lies, including about the Benghazi attack, vetting Syrian refugees, and of course his “echo chamber” he created to feed false propaganda to the media. The media were of course happy to be used as pawns, as even after Rhodes publicly admitted to duping them (and joked of their ignorance), they still defend him and the Obama administration vigorously to this day. It must be nice to be a Democrat.
Rhodes did a new interview at Georgetown University and he was asked about many of the issues surrounding the Trump-Russia campaign, including it’s origins.
He had this to say.
“No, no, I cannot be clear enough about this. We didn’t even know there was an FBI investigation of Trump. I didn’t. President Obama didn’t, like, we actually abided by the firewalls between – if there were any investigations that took place, those decisions were made in the Justice Department, in the FBI, not in the White House,”
“They will find nothing that suggests there was any political or White House involvement in any of that. Literally, I learned about the FBI investigation of Trump as a private citizen in the frickin’ Washington Post. So, you have to understand, we actually abided by the longstanding practice of the White House not getting involved in that kind of stuff,” he added.
He would go on to call any investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia hoax a “waste of time.”
There’s a problem though. He’s lying.
How do we know? Because it’s already been proven that the Obama White House was not only aware of the investigation, they were involved at the highest levels.
While Rhodes maintains the Obama administration’s innocence, unredacted copies of text messages suggest otherwise. Former FBI employees Peter Strzok and Lisa Page served on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation when their anti-Trump text messageswere leaked. “The White House is running this,” one text read.
It doesn’t get any clearer than that. It’s also beyond belief to think that the Brennan, Clapper, etc. weren’t briefing the President on this stuff given how invested they were in it.
Why would Rhodes lie about their knowledge at this point? The simple answer is that they know a compliant media will dutifully believe it and report it as truth, just as they did with his Iran deal nonsense.
