These people have one response, all the time. And by these people, I don’t mean all women, Muslims, or whatever other identity group Rashida Tlaib claims membership in. I mean the “fresh faces” of the Democratic Congress. Specifically, Tlaib, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Ilhan Omar.

Omar recently got into some hot water with her callous dismissal of 9/11 as just “some people did something.” While speaking at a fundraiser for the terrorist-supporting CAIR, she then presented 9/11 as nothing but an inconvenient catalyst for her own supposed victimization. It’s the kind of thing you just don’t do when dealing with such a tragedy.

In the aftermath, a member of her self-proclaimed “squad” went on MSNBC to defend her and it went about how you’d expect.

Truth to power is completely skipping over what happened on 9/11 and who did it, instead twisting it into a way to get plaudits for yourself at a CAIR fundraiser? Who knew?

Tlaib would go on to trot out two further tropes.

“Taking it out of context, this is just pure racist act by many of those—hateful acts by those because she does speak truth when it talks about different issues that they don’t disagree with. And I’m really outraged because as a person that has gotten direct death threats myself I know that her life is put in more danger.”

One, no one took Omar out of context. The video is not edited, it’s not misleading. It shows exactly what she said and what her intention was. Omar, knowing the crowd she was in front of and the probability of her own views, did not want to say the words Islamic terrorism nor verbalize what actually happened.

Two, this new thing where you aren’t allowed to criticize bad behavior by elected (Democrat) officials because some nut job might send them a death threat is ridiculous. Donald Trump gets death threats literally every day. Multiple people have been arrested for plotting to kill the President. Yet, I’ve never seen Tlaib or other Democrats say that criticizing him is off limits. Quite the opposite. They never take a day off from bashing Trump.

Omar’s life is no more in danger than any other high-profile public official. That’s one of the negatives of the job. It’s regrettable, but it’s also not a shield against one’s critics.

Tlaib needs some new material. Her only contribution as a Congressional member to this point has been to charge racism. She constantly cites that she’s a “woman of color” anytime someone confronts her on an issue because she sees it as a way to deflect criticism.

Those questioning Omar’s comments are not doing so out of racism anymore than it’s racism when people question Nancy Pelosi. If you say stupid things, you will take heat for them. That’s life in the public eye.

Omar and Tlaib have both shown themselves to be very bitter people with hostile views on foreign policy and America in general. That’s the most charitable reading I can give them.
