Although Trump praised Noem in the post, it’s been widely rumored for months that he wasn’t entirely pleased with her performance.

There were reports that Kristi Noem, the former South Dakota congresswoman and governor who has led President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security thus far in his second term, was ousted from her position on Wednesday.

President Donald Trump announced his he will nominate Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., to replace her on Truth Social.

Noem, 54, will likely be at least temporarily replaced by Deputy Secretary Troy Edgar, a Navy veteran and former mayor of Los Alamitos, California, in the line of succession for the agency.

Although Noem was a key part of the successful efforts to stop the tsunami of illegal alien crossings we saw under Biden, the president was reportedly displeased with some of the optics in the Minneapolis ICE raids and by her recent congressional testimony

Meanwhile, reports surfaced Thursday that Trump is "furious" with Noem over her performance in bicameral Judiciary Committee hearings this week, particularly over a contract for an advertisement that Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., and others grilled her on.

Trump reportedly took issue with her suggesting to Kennedy that he approved a taxpayer-funded ad subcontracted to a firm connected with her inner circle, according to National Review…

Mullin, meanwhile, is known for his sometimes fiery questioning in Senate hearings. He is Native American and only the second Cherokee citizen ever elected to the Senate.

Trump wrote about Mullin:

Serving 10 years in the United States House of Representatives, and 3 in the Senate, Markwayne has done a tremendous job representing the wonderful People of Oklahoma, where I won all 77 out of 77 Counties — in 2016, 2020, and 2024! A MAGA Warrior, and former undefeated professional MMA fighter, Markwayne truly gets along well with people, and knows the Wisdom and Courage required to Advance our America First Agenda.
