Tim Walz Looks Like a Deer in the Headlights As Jim Jordan Gives Him the 3rd Degree Over Somali Fraud

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, state Attorney General Keith Ellison, and Dem. Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-05) all stood idly by as the Gopher State was wracked by a Somali fraud scandal, with some estimates showing that potentially more than $9 billion was shelled out in massive graft operations.

On Wednesday, Governor Jazz Hands — who’s not even running for reelection now despite formerly being in the conversation for being the next Democratic presidential nominee — was put under the spotlight of the House Judiciary Committee, and boy, was he not ready for prime time.

Chairman Jim Jordan (OH-04) demanded to know why he resumed payments to the nutrition program Feeding Our Future, even after the fraud problems were revealed. A sputtering Walz played dumb and couldn’t answer basic questions.

The above tweet continues. Note that the transcript in the post is heavily abridged; watch the actual exchange in the video, which is much longer — and extremely uncomfortable to watch because all Walz could do was squirm:

JIM JORDAN: "Why didn't you tell the truth about why you RESTARTED the payments?"

WALZ: "The agency believed the court required them to make those payments."

JORDAN: "But that was FALSE...the court says the judge NEVER ordered you to resume Feeding Our Future payments...so the COURT'S lying?!"

WALZ: "I can't tell you!"

JIM JORDAN: "SOMEBODY'S lying! Either you're lying or the court's lying. Which one?!"

WALZ: "I just know what the attorneys said."

JORDAN: "Could it be you're trying to hide behind the court? Is it all about politics?!"

Brutal. LOCK UP TIM WALZ!

Embattled MN Gov. Makes Big Announcement About Political Future, but What He Leaves Out Is Pure Walz

We’ve seen Walz faceplant in public situations before, but this one was incredible. He tried to claim that a judge had ordered him to resume the payments, but a relentless Jordan pointed out that the court took the rare step of publicly rebuking him and notifying the world that he was mistaken.

Walz hemmed and hawed, deflected, and was just plain made a fool of.

"Somebody's lying, because you can't say the court ordered you to restart payments, and then the court says we didn't order you to restart the payments. Either you're lying or the court's lying, and I'm just asking you, which one is it?" he [Jordan] continues.

"85% of the people indicted were Somali Americans, a key voting bloc, and I think that's what drove this whole thing."

Walz’ explanations were pathetic, and that’s because he simply had no answers. Asked whether it was all about politics, the failed vice-presidential candidate had a jaw-dropping response: "No, it's about taking care of our people, which Minnesota does better than anyone else."

You take care of your people by ripping them off, governor?
