Kash Patel is now Trump’s FBI director, and Susie Wiles is the president’s chief of staff. In 2023, though, they were private citizens, and Joe Biden sat in the Oval Office.
We’ve long been covering Biden’s Department of Justice, run by the TDS-riddled former Attorney General Merrick Garland, and their banana republic-style effort to bring down Trump at any cost, even though he was not even in office anymore at the time.
With each new day, it seems, the revelations about the behavior of the Biden admin. people get worse and worse. Now, Reuters is reporting that the feds spied on Patel and Wiles during the time that former crusading Special Counsel Jack Smith was conducting his “Arctic Frost” probe into alleged election interference and was working on his other case regarding classified documents.
Reuters:
Phone records were collected around the time of the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case
Records were labeled "Prohibited," making them harder for Trump officials to find
Patel said investigators obtained “toll records,” which detail the timing and recipients of calls

The FBI then placed the files in a "prohibited access" folder--which [former Director] Wray's FBI did in the Hunter Biden investigation--so it would be almost impossible to find them.
Smith sought the same toll records he and Biden's DOJ sought for several Republican US senators and at least one Republican House member.
Patel told the outlet on Wednesday that what the bureau did was way out of line:
“It is outrageous and deeply alarming that the previous FBI leadership secretly subpoenaed my own phone records – along with those of now White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles – using flimsy pretexts and burying the entire process in prohibited case files designed to evade all oversight,” Patel said in a statement to Reuters.
Reuters could not independently verify many of the details about Patel’s claims, including the full extent and timing of the seizure of phone records and the motive for doing so. Patel said the records were filed in a way that made it difficult for him and other FBI leaders to find them after taking over the bureau in February 2025.

Meanwhile, ten FBI agents were fired on Wednesday over the matter:

Fox News correspondent David Spunt told anchor Bret Baier that there could be more firings to come:
FBI Director Patel, in a statement to Fox News, calls this outrageous and deeply disturbing, and I will add, Bret, that we are told at least 10 bureau employees have been fired just today over this incident with more potentially to come.
It’s easy to become inured by all the stories of corruption and draconian overreach that went down while Ole Joe was president, but we shouldn’t let ourselves get complacent because they will resort to the exact same playbook if they retake the White House in 2028.
Many consider Biden to be but a mere buffoon, because he certainly was exactly that as commander in chief, but he also became one of the most dangerous presidents in our lifetimes.
Why? Because in his diminished capacity, he allowed a cabal of left-wing extremists to operate at the highest levels of power. If Joe hadn’t been forced out of the '24 presidential race and had somehow gotten reelected, I’m guessing we’d be living in some sort of hellish version of Orwell’s 1984 about now.
When something’s rotten, you have to rip out the core, and that’s what Patel has been attempting to do.
