We’ve reported extensively on the shenanigans at CBS News, the network that was forced to fork over $16 million in July to settle Trump’s lawsuit concerning their deceptive editing of a Kamala Harris interview a month before the 2024 presidential election. Much drama ensued at the outlet as veteran diehards continued to insist that resisting Trump and spewing anti-American rhetoric was part of their job description.
Give credit, however, to David Ellison, Chairman and CEO of Paramount (Skydance Corporation), who brought on independent journalist, former NY Times opinion editor, and nowadays free thinker Bari Weiss to oversee the hopelessly biased CBS team. This caused much consternation, of course, because the liberal media isn’t used to being called out on the carpet or having to justify their excesses.
Could it be her fingerprint on the latest drama engulfing the network? On Sunday, the venerable show 60 Minutes abruptly yanked a planned segment on illegal aliens.
Information was scant:
CBS pulled a “60 Minutes” segment on Venezuelan migrants who were sent to El Salvador’s notorious maximum-security prison, CECOT, just hours before its scheduled Sunday broadcast time.
“The broadcast lineup for tonight’s edition of 60 Minutes has been updated,” the program posted in an Editor’s Note on social media three hours before it was set to air.
“Our report ‘Inside CECOT’ will air in a future broadcast,” the post said.

As RedState’s Rusty Weiss reported, the segment had been under fire even before it aired:

Bari Weiss said in a statement that more context was needed, which is code for “the story was hopelessly biased and leftist, and we’re trying to become something more trustworthy under my leadership.”
The segment sounds as if it was going to be yet another mainstream media “Maryland Man” story glorifying illegal alien criminals while ignoring their crimes and minimizing the disastrous impact Joe Biden’s “let them all in” border policy has had on our country. But, according to some, Weiss has seen enough of that duplicitous narrative:
The segment was set to feature correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi speaking to deportees, who spoke about the 'brutal and torturous' conditions at the prison.
Explaining the sudden schedule change, a source at CBS News told Deadline that they determined the CECOT segment 'needed additional reporting.'
The CBS libs were aghast:
But an email from [correspondent Sharyn] Alfonsi to other correspondents, including Lesley Stahl, Scott Pelley, and Anderson Cooper, claimed new CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss 'spiked our story,' according to The Wall Street Journal.
Alfonsi said she believes the move to pull the piece was a political decision rather than an editorial call.
'Our story was screened five times and cleared by both CBS attorneys and Standards and Practices. It is factually correct,' Alfonsi wrote in the email.
'In my view, pulling it now, after every rigorous internal check has been met, is not an editorial decision, it is a political one.'
Right: in other words, the Usual Suspects wanted another “illegal criminal aliens are actually saints in disguise” story, but Weiss said “enough of that garbage.” We don’t know for sure that that is exactly what happened, but it sure looks like it. In any case, the story did not run.

The mainstream media — what I would call the corrupt, lying, corporate, DNC operation — refused to cover the human misery that Biden’s open border policy caused. Now, they are increasingly butthurt that people like Bari Weiss are calling them to task, and demanding that they tell the truth, which is that many of the “Maryland fathers” that the Trump administration is repatriating are hardcore criminals, rapists, and predators. There’s no reason for them to remain in this country, despite what the liberal media tells you.
