Eric Trump Spoke at the Reagan Library, and What the Left Did to His Family Will Make Your Toes Curl

I’ve been lucky enough to cover several events for RedState at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California—a little over an hour from Los Angeles but seemingly in a different universe entirely—and there’s something spiritual and magical about it. A) it’s beautiful, and if you want to know why many of us continue to fight for the Golden State, watch the sun set over the valley from the lawn and tell me you want to give this all away to the loony progressive left; and B) The Gipper’s presence is everywhere, from the statues and photos and paintings to the general awe-inspiring energy of the space.

In my previous visits, there was a sedate, thoughtful air as I pulled up, so I was quite stunned when I showed up to watch “A Conversation and Book Signing with Eric Trump” Sunday evening, and it was anything but sedate. The entire road up the hill was lined with motorcycles, trucks and cars with massive TRUMP signs and American flags, and large groups of patriots were hooting and hollering and jeering Gov. Gavin Newsom’s attempted power grab with his anti-Democratic Prop. 50.

It was like a cleansing session at a fabulous spa following the idiotic “No Kings” day protests over the weekend that drew millions of aimless people across the nation. There are still sane people in this country! (At least 77 million, actually; I just needed to be reminded.) I tried to get video of it, but I was driving, and after almost clipping a car, I figured I better cut that out. I did manage to get this shot though: imagine this times at least a thousand:

Now let’s get to Eric Trump—not just the president’s son but the Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization who has basically been operating the multibillion dollar international business.

CliffsNotes: He was fabulous. It’s one thing to read about a person’s experiences, it’s another to see—and feel—them tell it in person. What they did to him and his family is beyond stunning: it was criminal and anti-American. Debanked, deplatformed, delegitimized and (almost) destroyed. He goes into it all in his new book, aptly titled “Under Siege,” which became the #1 bestseller in America almost within minutes of its release. Why? Because the story is demonic, but gripping, and he expanded on it during this powerful event.

Watch:

Why Did You Write the Book?

Somebody had to memorialize the nonsense they put my father and the family through. The media did everything they could to cover it up, right? Every aspect of it, and it started the second we went down that escalator. We touched the bottom of the escalator, and they came after us like we were literal dogs. And this is everybody...

My father's hand came off the Bible on January 20th of 2017—12 minutes later, there was an article from the Washington Post. This when the impeachment of Donald Trump begins. They didn't give him 12 minutes, guys.

They Pulled Out Every Dirty Trick in the Playbook

They came after us in every way, shape, or form. They debanked the company, they deplatformed the company, they pulled my father off the ballot in Maine, they pulled them off the ballot in Colorado, right? They raided our home, they raided Melania's closet, they raided Barron's room. They did everything they could to destroy us, and I became the most subpoenaed person in American history, 112 subpoenas. [I can’t verify that he’s the most subpoenaed man in history, but let’s just say 112 subpoenas for a private citizen is an astonishing abuse of power.]

They wanted Donald Trump, and they didn’t care if his family got crushed along the way:

So about $400 million later, which is what it cost us to defend ourselves from these animals, right? And they tried again, everything. They wanted to silence him, they wanted to, you know, arrest him, they wanted to throw him in jail and throw away the keys, they wanted to divide our family. They wanted to take the name off of every single Trump building for doing absolutely nothing wrong other than we decided to question the status quo of Washington, D.C.

Yeah, that about sums it up.

On His Father

I love my father, dearly, he was the toughest guy, he was the most courageous guy. He never cowered. They wanted him to drop out. They wanted him to leave the race. They wanted to make this billionaire's life so difficult, so ugly, that he finally said, "You know what? Let's just go back to Mar-a-Lago, go live a great life, let's go play golf every day. Let's, you know, fly around on, you know, Trump Force One, you know, we'd be kind of the… kingmaker of the Republic Party like the great Reagan family [at this point he gave a shout-out to Ronald’s son Michael, who was in attendance and received a standing ovation]… and you know, live a wonderful life"—and he wasn't going to do that.

I mean, he didn't care. I mean, the more times he indicted him, the harder he punched back.

On The Efforts to Silence the Trump Family

MODERATOR: You point out, for example, that, the Taliban, Boko Haram, Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Ayatollah and Iran, all kept their Twitter accounts, and your dad didn't. [Un freaking believable.]

ERIC TRUMP: I mean, we're real estate people, we didn't know a thing about immigration, guys. It was like, “fake it until you make it.” When she [Hillary Clinton] lost to a bunch of people who had never been in this world who beat her at her own game, they perpetuated that lie for another three years, and in doing so, they literally pitted the biggest nuclear superpowers against each other.

Think about how evil and devious that is when everybody knew that there was no connection with Russia.…

It was just “disgusting, disgusting tactics,” he added. True.

There’s quite a bit more, including his take on crypto where he showed how smart he is, and I barely understood a word he said about it if I’m being honest. Short version: in his view, cryptocurrency is the way of the future—and was a key way the way the Trump Organization was able to stay afloat despite the collusion of most major banks to nuke them.

It’s worth watching the whole thing, and I walked away thinking, that was an incredibly powerful summary of just how deranged the left became when they had power under first Barack Obama and then the clueless but nevertheless sinister specter of Joe Biden.

We must learn from these episodes, and never let them happen again. The simple answer to that: Do not let Democrats and the leftist zealots back into power—ever.
