Trump to Baltimore, Chicago: 'We're Going In'

Although California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and other failed Democrats are whining and moaning about Trump’s threats to send the National Guard to quell violence in their murder-plagued cities, Trump is not backing down. During Tuesday morning’s press briefing from the White House, the president vowed that he’s coming to their towns:

"We're going in [to Chicago]," the Republican president told reporters, while hinting that he would also send soldiers to Baltimore, another Democrat-run city.

Trump denied charges he is strictly targeting cities run by his political opponents for his anti-crime campaign and his crackdown on undocumented migrants.

It’s my job, Trump argued:

"I have an obligation," he said, citing Chicago crime statistics. "This isn't a political thing. I have an obligation when 20 people are killed over the last two and a half weeks and 75 are shot with bullets."

Trump sent liberals into paroxysms of overblown rhetoric when he temporarily federalized D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and deployed the National Guard—but the libs were left with egg on their faces when crime plummeted virtually overnight. In one fell swoop, the president proved—just as he did with the (former) human disaster at the southern border—that we don’t have to live this way.

Bringing in troops to our cities would indeed be an extreme step—but isn’t what we’re already seeing on a daily basis “extreme?”

The truth is, progressive politics—including defund the police, cashless bail, criminal-loving laws and Soros-backed socialist prosecutors—have turned many of our urban areas into war zones. Just as they screech and moan over deportations of illegal immigrants, their freaking out over Trump trying to combat crime speaks of rampant hypocrisy since the crises are both of their own making.

District judges will doubtless keep jumping in off the third rail to stop Trump’s efforts, but he keeps coming. Some of his methods may be controversial, but after watching decade after decade of our cities turning into shooting galleries, any effort seems better than the status quo.

Editor's Note: The days of lawlessness in Washington, D.C. are over. Thanks to President Trump, our nation's capital will be SAFE once again.
