Donald Trump continued his war on Harvard University Sunday, issuing a late-night/early morning Truth Social post accusing the once vaunted institution of favoring foreign students over Americans and using taxpayer funds to pay for their education—even as they sit on a $52 billion endowment.
Other countries are taking advantage of us, the president proclaimed: “They pay nothing toward their student's [sic] education, nor do they ever intend to.”

Trump has been coming down hard on the Cambridge, Massachusetts Ivy League school over its ties to the Chinese Communist Party, its refusal to clamp down more on antisemitism on campus following the Hamas slaughter in Israel on Oct 7, 2023, and its massive haul of taxpayer grants despite its exorbitant tuition and huge endowment.
"Harvard has $52,000,000, use it, and stop asking for the federal government to continue granting money to you!"
Trump's post is just the latest salvo in the ongoing battle of stripping Harvard of its grants while it charges students sky-high tuition only to reroute it to student loan debt that former President Joe Biden attempted to forgive.
"Billions of dollars has been paid to Harvard," Trump said Friday in the Oval Office. "How ridiculous is that? Billions. They have $52 billion as an endowment.

Harvard Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz, a self-proclaimed Democrat (although he doesn’t sound like one a lot of the time), agreed at least partially with Trump’s analysis:
"Let's be frank here, there are too many foreign students in American universities; at Harvard 27.5% of the student body is foreign – when I started teaching there it was probably 5%, so every spot that is taken by a foreign student is denying an American student," Dershowitz said this week.
"President Trump is absolutely correct. If these were foreign students coming in from Nazi Germany in 1935 … liberals would have loved if the president had said, No, no, no, we don't want people coming in from Germany."
Dershowitz argued that the administration shouldn’t cut back funding for medical research for diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s, but they should take a hard look at who they’re taking in:
"But they should be cutting back on research that is propagandistic like at the Divinity School and the Public Health school. So, more targeting of which foreign students come in and which don't."
Harvard has had a rough go of it in recent years, with its former president Claudine Gay resigning in disgrace after a plagiarism scandal and her laissez faire attitude toward pro-Hamas disruptors who threatened Jewish students and caused chaos, their medical school’s morgue director pleading guilty to selling body parts, and their refusal to cooperate with the Trump administration over the international student issue.
It does not seem like this battle is going to end quietly anytime soon.

President Trump: "I do, but a lot of the people need remedial math. Did you see that? Where the students can't add 2 and 2, and they go to Harvard...And then you see those same… pic.twitter.com/gQRg3vvDQv
And then you see those same people picketing and screaming at the United States...We don't want troublemakers here.
