Donald Trump's former "fixer" Michael Cohen testified earlier this month in crusading Manhattan District Attorney's laughable business records case against the former president, and by most accounts, his serial lying and rambling testimony were an absolute disaster for the prosecution. 

Even before his testimony, many legal analysts were struggling with the basic question: exactly what crime is Bragg trying to pin on the former president?

A funny thing also went down in Washington D.C. on Wednesday: Michael Cohen's own former lawyer Robert Costello appeared in front of the House Judiciary Committee's Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Government and said that that pretty much everything Cohen testified to was utter hooey:

On Saturday, Costello appeared on "The Brian Kilmeade Show" show to double down on his previous comments, adding that the case is "dead on arrival."

When discussing whether he might be called to the stand, Costello said he had nothing that would help save the prosecution's disastrous case, but he knows some things that might bolster the defense: 

ROBERT COSTELLO: There's nothing that I know about this case that could give the prosecution more life. This case is dead. It was dead on arrival. It never should have been brought. It should have been dismissed by this judge. He still has an opportunity to do that, but I doubt very much he will do that. So I don't think there's any downside with me [testifying]. I think there's only an upside, but it's a judgment call, you know? And I haven't been sitting in court, and I'd never seen any of these 12 jurors. So I have no feeling for what those people are like or which way they're leaning, or whether they made facial gestures during the weeks of trial that indicate which way to lean. So I'm not the right person to ask. The right person is the Trump team. They'll make whatever the correct decision is.

Costello also said on "America's Newsroom" Thursday that some jurors might have "Trump derangement syndrome," so even if he testified they might not listen. He also revealed that in his view, Bragg' and his team have no interest in any exculpatory information regarding the president's defense and would rather ignore it.

Of all the un-American lawfare conducted by state DAs, local prosecutors, and the Department of Justice, this Alvin Bragg clownshow may be the most ridiculous of all. At this point, as I mentioned, almost nobody can adequately describe what crime Trump actually committed. There were some business expenses that were possibly misclassified years ago? For this, a former president should be put behind bars? Absolutely ridiculous. 

I'd love to predict that these crusaders will end up with egg on their faces, but as I and others often point out, a New York jury cannot be trusted to examine the facts and deliver justice. Many in the deep blue city have become so devoted to the progressive cause that they'll do anything to "get Trump," regardless of the evidence or the harm that these show trials do to our country.
