In another senseless crime in the nation’s capital, former Trump official Mike Gill, who worked at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission under the former president, has died after a vicious carjacking Monday night.

His wife Kristina broke the sad news in a statement:

"It is with profound sadness that I wish to inform the community of the passing of my husband, Mike Gill," Kristina wrote. "His sudden departure has left a void in our lives that can never be filled."

"In this time of grief, we are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from family, friends, and the community, and extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has reached out to offer condolences and assistance."

Many of our nation’s cities have plunged into violent chaos stemming from the defund the police movement and criminal justice reform. However, as many of these stories as we read, it’s still shocking how brazen and heartless some of these criminals have become:

According to FOX 5, Gill's family confirmed that the incident occurred in the 900 block of K Street NW around 5:45 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29 in the nation's capital.

The suspect allegedly entered Gill's car, shot him, and dashed off.

Talk about senseless.

A spokesman said after the incident, while Gill was still alive:

Mike is an amazing husband, father, friend and colleague. He has a wonderful sense of humor, no matter the situation. He makes friends with everyone - and is always looking for opportunities to bring people together and make them feel included and loved.

His warmth and kindness have touched the lives of many, evident in the outpouring of love and support his family has received during this difficult time.

The suspect went on a wild spree:

Metropolitan Police Department officials said that Gill's carjacking incident was one of the many incidents in a recent violent string of armed carjackings across D.C. and Maryland.

Just two hours later, around 7 p.m. on Monday night, police confirmed to FOX 5 that the same gunman attempted to carjack a person nearby.

About 10 minutes later, police say the gunman approached two people on the sidewalk and demanded their vehicle at gunpoint.

The suspect allegedly shot one man before stealing his car, a 2016 Chrysler 200, and drove off.

He went on to commit even more crimes – including another murder

Apologists would probably argue that the shooter was just misunderstood or needed rehabilitation, but I frankly was not saddened by this news:

State and local authorities worked together to locate the suspect and by early Tuesday, the suspected gunman was shot and killed by New Carrollton police officers in Prince George's County.

Gill leaves behind a wife and three children. We pray for the family.
