Former president and presumed 2024 Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump went after President Joe Biden over his repeated refusal to acknowledge the murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley at the hands of an illegal alien.

Riley, a nursing student at the University of Georgia, was brutally murdered while out running by Jose Antonio Ibarra, a 26-year-old illegal alien from Venezuela. Despite previously being arrested on charges of child abuse, Ibarra had been released by authorities.

In an interview with Breitbart, Trump called out Biden for only mentioning Riley's name during the State of the Union Address after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene forced him to do so, adding that he had shown "no compassion" towards her family:

Trump explained:

They’ve been shown no compassion from Biden other than he called out the name with the wrong name. He only called it out because Marjorie Taylor Greene shamed him. It’s like he picked up the pin to try to read it and he didn’t read it very well. These are people who can’t believe what happened to them and can’t believe what he’s doing. They’ll never be the same.

After bringing up Riley's name during his address (albeit incorrectly), Biden pointed to the fact she had been murdered by an "illegal."

He later apologized for these remarks, insisting that he should have used the term "undocumented" instead.

Trump, meanwhile, went on to describe his recent meeting with Riley's parents at a rally last weekend:

Her parents are great people. They lost an angel. They lost a person they loved more than anybody else. She was the top in her class and everything she ever did. She wanted to be a nurse and maybe would have ended up being a doctor.

Her friends were there too. They said, ‘We were not as good as her.’ She was like this perfect person and a good person. Her parents are very good people. I spent time with them. I met with her sister, who’s beautiful also, inside and out. These are people that can’t believe what happened.

During a campaign speech last week, Trump declared that Laken would still be alive if "Biden had not willfully and maliciously eviscerated the borders of the United States and set loose thousands and thousands of dangerous criminals into our country."

“Joe Biden went on television and apologized for calling Laken’s murderer an illegal,” he told his campaign rally. “Biden should be apologizing for apologizing to this killer.”

A GoFundMe page has since been set up in Riley's name, raising nearly $250,000. It was set up to "assist the family with funeral expenses, establish a scholarship in her name, raise homicide awareness, or any other opportunity the family could use it for during this difficult time."
