The tsunami of illegal immigrants being sent to sanctuary cities will continue until Joe Biden closes the southern border, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has confirmed.
Posting on the X platform, Abbott made the perfectly reasonable case that Texas border towns should not foot the bill for Biden's open border policy and will, therefore, continue to send illegal arrivals to so-called "sanctuary cities" such as New York and Chicago until Biden takes decisive action.
"Texas has transported over 102,000 migrants to sanctuary cities," he wrote. "Overwhelmed Texas border towns should not bear the brunt of Biden’s open border policies. Our transportation mission will continue until Biden secures the border."

Abbott's decision to bus illegals to heavily Democratic cities has become a major political flashpoint over the past year, with politicians, including New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, repeatedly whining that their cities are at a breaking point and do not have sufficient resources to cope.
Earlier this month, Pritzker wrote a letter to Abbott practically begging him to show "mercy" and send the illegal arrivals elsewhere.
"The next few days are a threat to the families and children you are sending here. I am pleading with you to at least pause these transports in order to save lives," Pritzker wrote.
"I plead with you for mercy for the thousands of people who are powerless to speak for themselves. Please, while winter is threatening vulnerable people's lives, suspend your transports and do not send more people to our state."

Adams, meanwhile, has previously warned that the immigration issue will "destroy" New York City unless a workable solution is found.
ERIC ADAMS: "[Mass immigration] will destroy New York City... The city we knew, we are about to lose."

Abbott's latest pledge comes amid his ongoing feud with the federal government over whether Texas should be allowed to enforce federal immigration law.
Last week, the Supreme Court issued a surprise 5-4 decision in response to an emergency appeal from the Biden administration that the federal government be allowed to remove razor fencing installed by local authorities along the border near Eagle Pass.

Republican governors across the country have since rallied around Abbott and pledged to support his efforts to secure the border from the millions of migrants illegally crossing through Texas on a yearly basis.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has also warned that the "fight is not over" and that the state will continue to fight for the enforcement of constitutional law.
“The Supreme Court’s temporary order allows Biden to continue his illegal effort to aid the foreign invasion of America,” Paxton said in a statement last week.
“The destruction of Texas’ border barriers will not help enforce the law or keep American citizens safe. This fight is not over, and I look forward to defending our state’s sovereignty.”
