Well, Duh! New Poll Says Americans Were Unhappier Than Ever Under Biden

Since November 5, 2024, and certainly since January 20, something has been different in the air. You might not be able to put your finger on it; it's just a feeling, but for most Americans, there is a new feeling of optimism and hope in the air, and it is all thanks to President Donald Trump. The 77 million plus who voted for Trump could feel the country slipping away, and they made sure to give Trump an undeniable mandate to carry out his agenda. The Biden years were some unhappy ones for Americans, even a lot of Democrats. Now, there is actual proof of that.

The World Happiness Report is done every year by the University of Oxford in partnership with Gallup and the United Nations. Each year, Gallup contacts around 1,000 people in roughly 140 countries by phone or in person. Results of the 2024 World Happiness Report might not be all that surprising. The report, released on Thursday, shows that the U.S. sank to its lowest-ever spot on a list of the happiest countries to live in. The ranking compiled data from between 2022 and 2024, during the Biden administration, and the U.S. came in at 24. The happiest country to live in was Finland for the eighth year in a row. Those jolly Finns had an average score of 7.736 out of 10 when they were asked to assess life in their country.

Seems like kind of a no-brainer. Joe Biden's disastrous policies left Americans struggling with an invasion at the southern border by millions of illegal immigrants, soaring crime rates in large cities, 40-year high inflation in 2022 of nine percent, and a general increasing cost of living. It was that unhappiness that propelled Donald Trump back into the White House.

Who are the happiest people? The report showed that Scandinavian countries came in at the top of the list, with Denmark coming in second, Iceland in third place, and Sweden coming in fourth. Another no-brainer: the unhappiest people are in Afghanistan.

The Report also had some bad news for the worldwide left. It seems that fairly traditional lifestyles tend to make people the most content. For example, sharing our meals with others has a lot to do with one's well-being. In the U.S., the number of people eating their meals alone has increased 53 percent in the last 20 years. Turns out it is nice to have someone ask you how your day was.

Living with others is also closely linked to happiness in Mexico and Europe. A November 2024 report from the Heritage Foundation backs that up, citing marriage as being linked with not only happiness levels but also increased household incomes and general all-around psychological well-being. However, on the flip side, some Americans might argue their happiness is linked to living alone.

Staring at screens all day and having little to no interaction with actual human beings is also not doing anything for Americans' happiness levels. Former U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy wrote this in the report,

“Loneliness is far more than just a bad feeling—it harms both individual and societal health. It is associated with a greater risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia, stroke, depression, anxiety, and premature death The mortality impact of being socially disconnected is similar to that caused by smoking up to 15 cigarettes a day, and even greater than that associated with obesity and physical inactivity. And the harmful consequences of a society that lacks social connection can be felt in our schools, workplaces, and civic organizations.”

Americans have happily sent Joe Biden packing back to Delaware and elected Donald Trump to implement an America First agenda. Next year, when those who conduct the poll check in with Americans, their happiness level will surely be trending upward.

Thanks to President Trump, illegal immigration into our great country has virtually stopped. Despite the radical left's lies, new legislation wasn't needed to secure our border, just a new president.
