Bill Melugin Reports on Controversial Biden Border Cell Phone App, As Good Signs Appear After Trump Win

Things are moving quickly after President-elect Donald Trump's win on Tuesday in the general election. One of the issues that voters said was one of the major reasons they pulled the lever in the ballot box for him, and not Vice President Kamala Harris, is immigration.

In a piece Thursday, my colleague Ward Clark outlined the agenda items that Trump has promised to tackle on day one of the new administration. Among those, of course, is not only beginning deporting the illegals already in the country but securing the porous southern border with Mexico.

We've also previously written about CBP One, the Biden-Harris administration's controversial program that fast-tracks illegal immigrants' Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) appointments via a cell phone app:

But there are already good signs in the wake of the sweeping Republican victory, as illegals in a massive caravan traversing our neighbor to the south have reportedly started to abandon it and turn back:

The caravan, which began earlier this week in southern Mexico, included approximately 3,000 migrants seeking asylum or economic opportunities in the U.S.

It's telling that one woman who wasn't deterred by Trump's win name-checked CBP One as giving her hope:

Speaking to Reuters, another Venezuelan migrant, identified only as Jeilimar, explained that she hopes to secure an asylum appointment via the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's CBP One app before Trump takes office in January 2025.

"With God's favor, I'll get that appointment," she said.

Related to this is Fox's Bill Melugin's new reporting Friday on just how many people are using the app--and how Mexico is basically chauffering them by bus to take advantage of it:

It reads:

MX [Mexico] is bussing migrants straight to the U.S. border for their CBP One cell phone app appointments.

Roughly 1,300-1,500 migrants are allowed into the U.S. every day via this Biden program.

Trump previously told me he will terminate it immediately upon taking office if he wins.

The incoming administration will need to press the new Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum, on this, though it could be a battle since she's a leftist. Trump has already hinted that he has Sheinbaum's number on speed dial--for a day one conversation on tariffs, and stemming the flow of illegals and drug trafficking into the U.S. It's been said before but it's important to say it: If a country can't defend its sovereign borders, can it really call itself a country? We'll keep you posted.
