RFK Jr. Swipes Biden Reaction as Lacking in Statement on Hamas Attack on Israel

As we reported earlier on Saturday, President Joe Biden released a statement condemning Hamas for its deadly terror attack early Saturday morning on Israel. I'm sharing the full statement again here, for context on what comes later on:

This morning, I spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu about the horrific and ongoing attacks in Israel. The United States unequivocally condemns this appalling assault against Israel by Hamas terrorists from Gaza, and I made clear to Prime Minister Netanyahu that we stand ready to offer all appropriate means of support to the Government and people of Israel. Terrorism is never justified. Israel has a right to defend itself and its people. The United States warns against any other party hostile to Israel seeking advantage in this situation. My Administration's support for Israel's security is rock solid and unwavering.

Jill and I are keeping in our prayers all of the families who have been hurt by this violence. We are heartbroken by the lives that have been tragically cut short and hope for a swift recovery for all those who have been wounded.

My team and I are tracking this situation closely, and I will remain in close touch with Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Bonchie also noted (in the second article linked above) that one miscue out of the gate by the Biden State Department, a post reacting to the attack on X (formerly known as Twitter), was so disastrous that they had to take it down.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr, who is running for the Democrat presidential nomination in 2024 against Biden, has now released a statement, too.

And while he gave some credit to Biden for making a "strong statement" supporting Israel, he swiped the president -- without using these exact words -- for leaving room for this to be just lip service to one of our closest allies (emphasis mine):

This ignominious, unprovoked, and barbaric attack on Israel must be met with world condemnation and unequivocal support for the Jewish state’s right to self-defense. We must provide Israel with whatever it needs to defend itself — now. As President, I’ll make sure that our policy is unambiguous so that the enemies of Israel will think long and hard before attempting aggression of any kind. I applaud the strong statements of support from the Biden White House for Israel in her hour of need. However, the scale of these attacks means it is likely that Israel will need to wage a sustained military campaign to protect its citizens. Statements of support are fine, but we must follow through with unwavering, resolute, and practical action. America must stand by our ally throughout this operation and beyond as it exercises its sovereign right to self-defense.

This could be seen as a smart move by RFK Jr., pressing his Democrat competition (and the leader of the free world) to stand up and be counted in an important moment.

The statement, which was also published on Kennedy's campaign homepage, joins other voices around the world strongly condemning the terror attack by Iran proxy Hamas, and those of other 2024 presidential candidates including several statements from Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and one from former Vice President Mike Pence on Saturday.
