TX Gov Abbott Turns Pro-Abortion 'Rape' Argument on Its Head Using Left's Own Logic

Over the past couple of years, we’ve seen conservatives with national profiles stepping up and fighting back against the ever-shifting games the Left tries to play with language to both confuse the conversation and dismantle societal norms like the family, and understanding the very real evil that’s involved in the practice of abortion. You’ve likely noticed one example of this, with the pro-abortion movement and its radical progressive allies in the halls of Congress and the Biden administration taking to calling this evil procedure “health care” — while, unironically, accusing Republicans of wanting to kill and/or throw in jail women who seek abortion up to the point of birth.

But now, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has turned the tables on those attempts–by turning the argument on rape against the pro-abortion crowd while using their own weasel-like logic against them. It’s masterful.

The Hill:

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said rape victims in the state can prevent pregnancies by using emergency contraception pills such as Plan B, The Dallas Morning News reported Friday.

In Texas, abortions are banned and do not include exceptions for rape or incest.

“We want to support those victims, but also those victims can access health care immediately, as well as to report it,” Abbott told The Dallas Morning News and KXAS-TV’s “Lone Star Politics” in a segment obtained by the Morning News that will air on Sunday.

“By accessing health care immediately, they can get the Plan B pill that can prevent a pregnancy from occurring in the first place,” he added.

Abbott continued, according to the Hill:

The Republican governor also told “Lone Star Politics” that reporting a rape to law enforcement “will ensure that the rapist will be arrested and prosecuted.”

Now, to be clear: Do I think the pro-life Republican governor wants citizens of his state to obtain and take an “emergency contraception” pill like “Plan B”? Absolutely not. And would I have preferred Abbott not to use “health care” to describe any type of abortion procedure/method? Yes. But when someone is over the target like this, giving leftists and the media hives, you really can’t demand the perfect over the good.
