Earlier on Sunday, there were reports that, according to sources who spoke to Fox News, it was former President Donald Trump who encouraged the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee to take the plunge.

Donald Trump encouraged Sarah Palin to return to politics and run for Congress, according to a report.

John McCain’s 2008 presidential running-mate spoke with the one-term president before filing paperwork to run for Alaska’s vacant House seat, two sources told Fox News.

As my colleague Nick Arama reported on Saturday, Trump urged supporters at a Michigan rally to vote for what he called “America First Republicans.”

“The choice this November is very simple, if you want high crime, high prices, high taxes, high corruption, and high incompetence, vote for the radical Democrats. If you want a country that is strong, sovereign, safe, and secure, you must vote for America First Republicans.”

So, it’s not all that surprising that Trump has now made his support for the former Alaska governor official.

In a press release late Sunday evening, Trump gave his “complete” endorsement of Sarah Palin for her congressional race.

It read:

Wonderful patriot Sarah Palin of Alaska just announced that she is running for Congress, and that means there will be a true America First fighter on the ballot to replace the late and legendary Congressman Don Young. Sarah shocked many when she endorsed me very early in 2016, and we won big. Now, it’s my turn!

Sarah has been a champion for Alaska values, Alaska energy, Alaska jobs, and the great people of Alaska. She was one of the most popular Governors because she stood up to corruption in both State Government and the Fake News Media.

Sarah lifted the McCain presidential campaign out of the dumps despite the fact that she had to endure some very evil, stupid, and jealous people within the campaign itself. They were out to destroy her, but she didn’t let that happen.

Sarah Palin is tough and smart and will never back down, and I am proud to give her my Complete and Total Endorsement, and encourage all Republicans to unite behind this wonderful person and her campaign to put America First!

It will be worth watching how the endorsement plays out, especially whether Donald Trump will stump in Alaska for Palin. As they say, stay tuned!
