'Bad Boys': COPS Returns, After the Woke Brigade Tried to Cancel It in 2020

Looking for some good news this weekend? Here you go!

You might remember last year when leftists began marching and rioting across the country after the law enforcement-involved death of George Floyd, it cast a pall on all things ‘police’ in Hollywood. One of the unfortunate victims of that wokeness parade was the classic Fox network show “COPS” — a reality show before people started calling them that. The cable/streaming outlet Paramount canceled the program in June, as RedState reported.

Now, fans of the 33-year-old show can enjoy hearing the strains of the iconic theme song, “Bad Boys,” once again, since it’s returning to the airwaves with new episodes starting this coming Friday (October 1). But not on television screens, like people might expect.

“COPS” will be broadcast on Fox News’ subscription-only streaming service, Fox Nation. Here’s a breakdown on how the platform will be presenting the new show, via Fox News:

The series, which will see its revival with a Season 33 this October, follows city police officers across the country during patrols, calls for service, and other police activities. The show has also featured both state and federal agencies, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the United States Marshals Service.

The 33-episode revival season is slated to air on Friday, October 1, with Fox Nation releasing four episodes for fans to binge. Each Friday thereafter, an additional episode will be released on the app.

NPR wrote about the return of the show, along with a few goodies from a prior season Fox Nation will air:

Fox Nation, a subscription-based streaming service owned by Fox News Media, has given the green light for the return of the controversial series, which will premiere its 33rd season on Oct. 1, the company announced Monday.

“COPS is one of the most iconic brands on television with an incredibly passionate fan base,” Jason Klarman, president of Fox Nation, said in a statement.

Fox Nation has also picked up an additional 15 episodes from the 32nd season.

Variety added that the “COPS” addition to the line-up is just a hint of where Fox Nation is heading, as far as expanding its programming.

In recent months, however, Klarman has steered the subscription outlet beyond news programming. Nancy Grace leads a true-crime program, and other offerings include series about real-estate. Fox Nation even secured rights to some of Clint Eastwood’s most popular movies from Warner Brothers.

And for the first year, the streaming platform has a sweet thank you for first responders — free access to all of Fox Nation’s content. As Klarman wrote in a statement, according to NPR, “….[I]t’s a way to “give back in a small way to those who place their lives on the line every day to keep us safe.”

And that’s only right. Anything we can do to let our first responders know how much we appreciate their service to our nation can only be a good thing — especially at a time when they are (literally) under fire from some Democrat cities and states, who want to defund them and keep them from enforcing the laws on the books.
