Hotel Cancels Group Discount for Conservative Organization

The We Build the Wall organization out of Florida was looking to hold a town hall event in Detroit, so they booked a block of rooms at the Detroit Foundation Hotel. The Free Press reports that they were given a group discount  for the 23 rooms but, when the hotel was provided with a list of names of those who would be staying in the rooms, they were informed the discount would no longer be offered.

Those speaking at the event include Air Force veteran and Detroit native Brian Kolfage, who started the crowdfunding campaign to pay for the wall that became the We Build the Wall organization, former Kansas Secretary of State (and failed gubernatorial candidate) Kris Kobach,  Sheriff Clarke, Steve Bannon (who serves as advisory board chairman), and angel families. “They didn’t want us there because we’re Trump supporters and conservatives,”communications director Jennifer Lawrence told the Free Press on Tuesday.

The hotel issued the following statement:

The Foundation Hotel apologizes that a position that does not reflect our policy in any way was represented to a potential guest, and that an unauthorized decision to rescind a standing offer was made. We have taken the necessary steps to resolve the situation.

The discount group offer for the party in question is extended. The Foundation Hotel does not discriminate against guests based on race, creed, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, political affiliation, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, physical or mental ability, veteran status, and marital status, The hotel was built on the very premises of being inclusive and serving the community in all ways it can.
