After Contentious Debate Charlotte Moves Ahead with RNC in 6-5 Vote

The Charlotte City Council held a special session this afternoon in which the public shared their thoughts and then the council debated whether or not to accept the Republican National Convention for 2020. For those who are confused, yes, Charlotte has already invited the RNC and the RNC has already accepted that invitation. However, the good people of Charlotte then decided caused a ruckus.

Public comments went on for two hours, with many on the right speaking of bipartisanship and free speech and many of the left speaking of hate and threatening violence if Republicans are allowed to congregate in their town. Following that, each council member spoke. At the end, the city council voted 6 to 5 to move ahead with bringing the RNC to the Queen City.
