The reason for the prize: courage.

As reported by People, the good doctor’s set to receive the Award of Courage from The Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR).

The occasion: amFAR’s virtual “A Gala for Our Time.”

The show won’t air ’til March 4th on YouTube, but People’s provided a sneak peek.

You may be wondering what a movie star has in common with Anthony — beyond the obvious untold hours of television time.

But the pairing is a fitting one: To hear Julia tell it, Dr. Fauci’s her “personal hero.”

And, via the video:

“There’s no one more deserving. You’ve been tireless and true for all of us, and I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Viewers will watch Dr. F return with, “Thank you so much Julia, those are such very kind words, I really do appreciate them. Coming from you, that really means a lot to me.”

Anthony goes on to thank COVID’s “unsung heroes.”

Anthony Fauci’s occupied an interesting place in the American experience over the past year. Some have found his updates confusing. And a clear plan to exit the nation’s lockdown has yet to be relayed by the CDC.

But if there’s one thing 2020 taught us, it’s that you can’t predict the path of a virus — particularly one we don’t know exactly how to fight.

Back to the foundation, its focus is AIDs research:

AmfAR, which remains committed to developing a cure for HIV, has temporarily expanded the scope of its work to include research on the coronavirus. The amfAR Fund to Fight COVID-19 is supporting efforts to develop effective treatments.

The nonprofit issues awards each year to those who’ve demonstrated — per People — “a commitment to important social and humanitarian causes, particularly to amfAR and the global HIV/AIDS response.”

Past recipients include actress Vanessa Redgrave, singer and actor Harry Belafonte, Sir Elton John, and everyone’s favorite 90’s Democratic president, Bill Clinton.

As for Julia and Anthony’s pairing, it’s not the first time.

They got together last May courtesy of the actress’s Instagram account:

I said the pair have television in common, but actually, there’s one more thing: They’re both rich.

As I wrote last month, “From 2010 through 2019, the Cornell University-educated MD raked in $3.6 million.”

Per The Daily Wire, without any pay increase, 2019-2024 will turn out $2.5 Big Ones.

Julia Roberts may see herself as Anthony Fauci’s junior, since he’s older and a hero to the star.

But their earnings are both senior-level stunning — she’s rich JR…and he’s rich AF.
