On Friday, Governor Doug Ducey dunked Joe B.
In case you missed it, at a Hump Day White House press conference, the President pointed to Arizona as a model for how to handle the pandemic — they kept cases low without going full-Nazi:
“[Arizona is] a state that is a model for applying a science-based approach to the decreasing cases and hospitalizations without implementing a punishing lockdown. Arizona’s record in reducing the spread of the virus while maintaining hospital capacity and allowing society to continue functioning and functioning very nicely, very successfully, is an example that shows how our path forward can work in other states.”

That gave Joe — or maybe someone serving as his earthly avatar — an idea.
Therefore, a little bit of this business happened:
President Trump called Arizona “a model for applying a science-based approach to the decreasing cases and hospitalizations without implementing a punishing lockdown.” He said Governor Ducey’s approach should be used by other states—but here’s what’s really happening in Arizona:
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) August 7, 2020
Here’s how COVID-19 affected Arizonans under the Trump—Ducey model:
– An infection rate—still—of nearly 20%
– The fifth-highest number of current hospitalizations in the country
– More than 4,000 deaths from COVID-19
– More than 183,000 cases
– Lengthy delays in test results— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) August 7, 2020
The truth is that President Trump could have acted months ago to curb this pandemic—it’s obvious he still hasn’t learned his lesson. He continues to ignore the warnings of health experts and we’re all paying the price. https://t.co/JOgA5Gpop4

Okay, forget my “maybe.” There’s absolutely no way Joe wrote all that.
The old Joe could’ve; but Joe 2020 — like the The Love Boat — is exciting and new:

Regardless, you know who didn’t appreciate Biden’s post against Arizona’s Doug Ducey?
That’d be Arizona’s Doug Ducey.
He responded with some figures of his own:
-Percent positivity between 9-11% for the first time since May
-The lowest R Naught in the nation at .86
-380+ testing sites, and growing
-And we’re providing care and comfort to those who need it.
“The last thing we need” he pointed out, “is another politician rooting for the virus because it helps them politically. We’ve got enough of that. AZ has more work to do, but we are on the right track thanks to the actions and responsibility of our people. Let’s keep doing what we’re doing.”
And that wasn’t all — Doug dug in and hit Joe with a proverbial shovel.
“‘Come on man!’ Get out of your basement, Joe, and get the facts on Arizona.”
"Come on man!" Get out of your basement, Joe, and get the facts on Arizona:

-The lowest R Naught in the nation at .86
-380+ testing sites, and growing
-And we're providing care and comfort to those who need it.— Doug Ducey (@dougducey) August 7, 2020
Normally, I’d view the “basement” thing as a figure of speech. But I have to say — given more than a few sights and sounds, the guy actually being hunkered down in a basement is easy to imagine.

Maybe that girl wrote the tweet.
As for Doug’s comeback, it’s like Trump said of the governor and COVID during Wednesday’s small briefing:
“He was hit very hard, and he hit back even harder.”
