The Oscars are upon us again, and Ricky Gervais has offered some jokes he would’ve made, had he been chosen to host.

On Twitter, the comedian and star of After Life was asked the following:

“[If] you were hosting the Oscars tonight, what’s your first best joke?”

Rick responded with one zinger, then he came back later with another.

First up:

“I can’t wait to hear all your inspirational speeches about equality, and it’s great that the 3 hours you’re here tonight is the only time your badly paid migrant house staff will get some time off to sleep this week.”

15 minutes later, he served this:

“It’s great to see such diversity in the room tonight. Rich sex pests of all shapes and sizes.”

Back to #1, some tweeters ate it up:

As you no doubt remember, Ricky harpooned Hollywood at January’s Golden Globes:

A large majority polled were ready for his permanent residence:

Will he ever be asked back? That remains to be seen.

In the meantime, on Hollywood Boulevard Sunday night, the rich and famous were all gussied up and set to win trophies for make-believing. It’s good work if you can get it.

As for that illustrious broadcast, Ricky had a third offering, with a plug thrown in:
