In case you didn’t hear, a report Monday indicated your socialist Uncle Bernie told Elizabeth “I Like Your Frame On That” Warren in 2018 that a woman can’t snag the White House.
Maybe she responded with this:
Or this:
Meghan McCain might’ve done the same.
Speaking on Tuesday with her fellow View hosts, Meghan noted that, while Bernie’s got a solid rep in D.C. as being “a congenial senator,” “his supporters have a bad reputation—meaning the ‘Bernie bros.’”
Have you heard of this?
McCain asserted there’s a bit of “massage me” goin’ on.
Oh, sorry — wrong Washington issue. That’s misogyny:
“It’s actually one of the few things that really connects liberal pundits and conservative female pundits together, is there’s just a level of misogyny — look at Twitter, and some of the accounts they do that is directed towards specifically women, specifically women in politics, and specifically women in political commentary. And I’m sure I’ll have my Twitter just lit up on fire because of this, but he has a problem with women. And he has for a long time.”
As observed by The Daily Wire, the network of Acosta and Cupp reported Monday that buds Warren and Sanders met up in 2018 to figure out how to deal with the race for 2020 so as to not screw each other over.
Here’s CNN:
The two agreed that if they ultimately faced each other as presidential candidates, they should remain civil and avoid attacking one another, so as not to hurt the progressive movement. They also discussed how to best take on President Donald Trump, and Warren laid out two main reasons she believed she would be a strong candidate: She could make a robust argument about the economy and earn broad support from female voters. Sanders responded that he did not believe a woman could win.
!
And if you’re questioning the legitimacy of the story, consider this:
The description of that meeting is based on the accounts of four people: two people Warren spoke with directly soon after the encounter, and two people familiar with the meeting.
After publication of this story, Warren herself backed up this account of the meeting, saying in part in a statement Monday, “I thought a woman could win; he disagreed.”
But here’s Bernie, insisting it never happened:
“It is ludicrous to believe that at the same meeting where Elizabeth Warren told me she was going to run for president, I would tell her that a woman couldn’t win. It’s sad that, three weeks before the Iowa caucus and a year after that private conversation, staff who weren’t in the room are lying about what happened.”
What the–? People lying?! In politics?!
Bernie did admit to this, though:
“What I did say that night was that Donald Trump is a sexist, a racist and a liar who would weaponize whatever he could. Do I believe a woman can win in 2020? Of course! After all, Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump by 3 million votes in 2016.”
Back to The View, Sunny Hostin was moreso Team Warren:
“I don’t doubt that he perhaps said that. I mean, we’ve had 45 presidents. They’ve all been men. Right? So he may very well think that.”
Whoopi opened up the segment with, “Kids, I gotta tell ya — Mom and Dad are fightin’.”
Abby Huntsman believes it, too, and since Bernie let Liz know it’s prison rules now, she’s not holding back:
“Warren was keeping this in her back pocket, right? She kept the receipts, because, I think they made the pact when they got together in her apartment, saying, ‘Look — we have the same message. We gotta win this thing, so let’s not tear each other apart.’ And then that happens, and she’s like, ‘Well fine, if you’re gonna play the game, then I’m gonna play, too. And I’m gonna make it really difficult for you.”
And what’s the “that” Abby was talking about? As per Sunny, this:
“[T]hey did have this pact, they have been friends for a long time, but when she found out that his surrogates were out there, as she said, ‘trashing’ her, she did come out and say, ‘He doesn’t think a woman can win.'”
What’s important to Meghan? Well she’s no fan of Trump, so…:
“[I] don’t want another misogynist as president, okay? I think we’re all, women in this country are sick of it…”
And:
“[I] have always thought he had a problem with women. … [M]uch like Mayor Pete with black voters, this is his achilles heel…”
So there you have it. But if you’re looking for a different perspective, leer no further than over to Ana Kasparian of The Young Turks, who’s got you more than covered:
“[W]e know that that’s not who Bernie Sanders is. But all of that doesn’t really matter to the ladies at The View, because they’re gonna have a conversation sharing their opinions from the most ignorant standpoint I have seen.”
Yikes.
