Among all the impeachment talk at The View Monday, Whoopi Goldberg told her co-host — the fiery Meghan McCain — to shut her yap.

Meghan said fine, and Whoopi shot right back.

While the ladies discussed the hearings’ transfer to the Senate, Joy Behar took the opportunity to slam Senators Lindsay Graham and Mitch McConnell.

In Joy’s view, neither of them “give a fig” about the Constitution. Furthermore, Americans are about to get “smart and hip” as part of the “jury” for Donald J. Trump.

She may want to consider: Americans are the ones who elected him.

Perhaps she thinks their minds’ll be changed:

“We all know you’re not supposed to decide the fate of the defendant until you hear all the facts.”

Meghan threw herself into the ring, pointing out that Republicans’ partisanship is no different than Democrats’.

Politics is war:

“But how is that different than Rashida Tlaib on election night saying, ‘We’re gonna to impeachment the motherf***er.’ There is partisanship on both sides before the trial has even begun.”

Meghan socked it to Joy and asserted that the country’s sick of pure party lines over principle:

“This, like, pearl clutching that it’s only Republicans that are doing this, it’s a completely partisan process. I think the American public is completely sick of it. I also take great offense at the idea that there is not integrity and seriousness given the gravity of the accusation. I think most people have tuned out because people are making it as political as they are.”

Then, she implored everybody:

“I implore everyone to stop being partisan on both sides.”

Republican co-host Abby Huntsman suggested more proof is needed in order to impeach the President, while Whoopi went off on Lindsey Graham:

“Stop saying I’m not gonna look at the evidence, you just can’t do that, that’s not the American way! … It’s not even hypocrisy, it is the thing that has scared everyone, which is this divide that you talk about all the time.”

Lindsey’s certainly no respecter of the Dems’ play against the Prez — in November, as reported by The Associated Press — he made that clear:

“I’ve written the whole process off. I think this is a bunch of B.S.”

Back to The View, Meghan had more to say on partisanship:

“I spend my time around conservatives. … There are a group of people in this country that think this is completely partisan on the Left as well. I’m not saying what Lindsay Graham said was okay because I disagree with. it. Go back to again, a president who perjured himself in my lifetime. … By the way, Trump wants a long impeachment process because it’s good for him and it’s helping his numbers.”

Liberal attorney Sunny Hostin went the other way:

“If we’re gonna talk about both sides, and we’re gonna, sort of, make that comparison, I think we also have to compare the Senate vote before. You had so many senators that voted to not only impeach, but also convict President Clinton for…perjuring himself. … Many of those same people are still in the Senate. I cannot believe that they would vote to impeach and convict…a sitting a president for perjuring himself, and they would not vote to convict a president — and remove — a president who clearly used a foreign…government for his own personal benefit to impede our very democracy.”

Is that what he “clearly” did?

“That is the height of hypocrisy.”

Meghan pointed out: She’s not just some View host…she’s a political analyst:

“My job here is not to litigate the ethics of it,. I’m an ABC political analyst along with being a View co-host. My job is to analyze the politics of it.”

Boom! Puttin’ on the big pants!

Meghan and Sunny fought for the conch shell, and as Whoopi tried to intervene, McCain asked a sizable question:

“Do you want to hear a conservative perspective on the show ever?”

Finally — holy cow — Whoopi told her to just shut up:

“Girl…please stop talking, please stop talking right now!”

Meghan: “No problem,” McCain replied. “I won’t talk for the rest of the show.”

Whoopi: “I’m okay with that. I’m okay with that. If you’re going to behave like this…”

A heck of a fight and, I think, a reflection of — to quote Sir Paul McCartney — “the world in which we’re living.” But in a good way, in a sense — in the past, the the ABC talkfest was painfully heavily left-wing. However, the addition of both Meghan and Abby — both professed conservatives, albeit no fans of The Donald — was a big move for a show that used to see Elizabeth Hasselbeck get ganged up on like it was going out of style.

Did Trump’s election convince the show’s producers that maybe the American audience was more conservative than they’d once thought? Why otherwise did they shift the balance?

Certainly, some RedState readers don’t consider Meghan much of a conservative, but she constantly surprises me with the ferocity with which she defends the Right.

She wasn’t backing down Monday.

And, something tells me, neither is the President as we go forward in this intense chapter of American politics.
