For those of you jonesing for a near-decade of President Uncle Bernie Sanders but wondering who in the world would help your rich relative lead the nation and take care of your many needs, rest assured: You’re in more than capable hands.
During an interview earlier Monday night with ABC News, Bern announced Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will play a key role in his White House.
The network asked Bernie whether he was considering the former bartender as a running mate if he makes big and gets the Democratic nomination — and I say, why shouldn’t he get it? He’s as good as any.
Sanders played it a bit coy, but he did make clear she’ll have a vital role in shaping domestic and foreign policy — just how you like it.
Here he is, making your dreams come true:
“Look, I’ve said this before, let me say it again and I don’t want you to hear this because your head will explode. I don’t know of any person who, in the course of less than one year, has had more of an impact on American politics as a freshman member of Congress than she has.”
He may indeed be right about that — just search for her name at RedState and see the wondrous ways she’s had an effect.
Plus, she’s focused on the things that matter.
And the kids love her.
And, somehow, she’s inspiring working people — even though her Green New Deal says people won’t have to work.
Maybe that’s the inspiration:
“It’s not only that she has focus on the real issues impacting the American people, like climate change, the usury rates that Wall Street are charging working people in this country, but she has been an inspiration to working people all across this country and to young people in particular.”
Bernie wants to see more whippersnappers getting political:
“I happen to believe that the future of this country depends on young people becoming increasingly involved in the political process and there’s nobody I know that can do a better job inspiring young people than Alexandria.”
Hence:
“If I’m in the White House, she will play a very, very important role. No question. One way or another, absolutely.”
He added that AOC’s role could be a position in his Cabinet.
Although, it does raise concern: Will the freshman senator from New York be able to find her way out of that cabinet? Hopefully, there’s a handle on the inside. And an exit sign.
What do you think Alexandria’s title should be? Chief Cowfart Fighter?
I look forward to hearing your ideas in the Comments section.
