Tulsi Gabbard and Hillary Clinton aren’t likely to be having a slumber party any time soon.
The two Democrats — who both want to be president in 2020 (and, in Clinton’s case, I’m assuming 2024, 2028, 2032, ’36, ’38, etc.) — have been throwing darts at one another all week.
2016 apologist Hillary’s called Tulsi a “Russian asset,” and, basically, Tulsi’s called Clinton the same — minus the “Russian.”
And the “-et.”
And one person who thinks the former First Lady’s blowin’ it is none other than CNN’s Van Jones.
I just wrote about Van a couple weeks ago — he correctly called all this “impeachment” talk a lose-lose for Democrats (here).
Here’s what he had to say Friday night:
“If you’re concerned about disinformation…that is what just happened, just throw out some information, disinformation, smear somebody. She is Hillary Clinton. She’s a legend. She’s going to be in the history books. She’s a former nominee of our party, and she just came out against a sitting U.S. congresswoman, a decorated war veteran, and somebody who’s running for the nomination of our party with just a complete smear and no facts.”
Okay, but Van denouncing Hil’s hunk of hearsay is a bit like a 1984 grandpa hatin’ on parachute pants — “complete smear and no facts” is all the rage (here). It’s Totally Awesome.
Nevertheless, well-slacked Van is disappointed in the former presidential candidate who was unable to defeat the treacherous 10-year-old MAGA mob (here).
In fact, according to Mr. Jones, she’s “playing right into the Russians’ hands.”
Let’s revisit what Hillary said on the Campaign HQ with David Plouffe podcast:
“I think they have got their eye on someone who is currently in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate. She is the favorite of the Russians. They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far.”
Parachute pants!
“That’s assuming Jill Stein will give it up, which she might not because she’s also a Russian asset. Yeah, she’s a Russian asset — I mean, totally (Awesome!). They know they can’t win without a third-party candidate. So I don’t know who it’s going to be, but I will guarantee you they will have a vigorous third-party challenge in the key states that they most needed.”
Van thinks Hillary’s really losing out with the condemnation.
And I believe he’s right — mostly because she’s on the outs. She could use all the DNC fans she can get.
On the other hand, the “in” thing is to wear goofy claims like a Swatch; and as I said about Kamala and her unsupported charge against Giuliani, “If you can’t win, at least you can lose in style.”
Still, of anything and everything Hillary Clinton does and says between now and November 3rd, 2020, I consider it a possible part of her percolating plot to swoop in, declare her candidacy, and try to beat the snot out of those hacking deplorable 4th-graders.
Tulsi’s cool with it:
Great! Thank you @HillaryClinton. You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain. From the day I announced my candidacy, there has been a …

It’s now clear that this primary is between you and me. Don’t cowardly hide behind your proxies. Join the race directly.
