On Monday, former Republican New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu provided a new characterization for 2020 hopeful Beto “I can changed a tire, and I can prove it” O’Rourke: Given the heap of absurdity coming out of his mouth — specifically, a promise to steal America’s most popular hunting rifle from the homes of its citizens — the dude’s an “immature pest.”

John told Fox News host Bill Hemmer Beto’s just grabbing at whatever straws he can:

“He really is desperate at this point and will say just about anything to get a headline. You gave him a headline, and so he will probably continue to say silly things like that that will irritate both his Democrats and the Republicans.”

I’d like to offer an idea here: He may be saying really, punishingly stupid things out of desperation; but if so, his desperation is due to his low numbers and his low numbers are due to saying really stupid things.

Not all congressional Democrats are happy with Beto’s antics: Over the weekend, Democratic Rhode Island Rep. David Cicilline claimed there’s no reason to believe his party is suggesting guns should be confiscated, and that Beto’s doofiness “doesn’t help.”

To John, that only further solidifies Beto’s place in the politisphere:

“[I]t just confirms that Beto O’Rourke has slipped into the role of the immature pest that even the Democrats want out of the process.”

Given the roll he’s on, they probably won’t have to wait very long.
