Liberal Gillian Anderson Lends Sympathetic Words to a Politician, Stokes the Inflamed Twitter Mob's Fire

On Saturday, another Hollywoodite catalyzed a Twitterfit.

X-Files star Gillian Anderson performed what turned out to be the unacceptable feat having something sort of nice to say about Margaret Thatcher — who she’s soon to play on Netflix series The Crown.

The show’s page posted a dastardly quote:

“I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of ‘The Crown’ and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman. Thatcher was undoubtedly formidable, but I am relishing exploring beneath the surface and, dare I say, falling in love with the icon who, whether loved or despised, defined an era.”

Among some users, here’s how that went:

People had some pretty harsh takes on Margaret; were they mistaking her for Donald Lucifer Trump?

Select tweeters remarked upon Margaret the Monster:

And perchance most acutely, what appears to be a millennial in Austin knows enough about both Thatcher and Ronald Reagan to confirm — they’re both burning in hell:

Perhaps what we can most take away from this is: Never run for a political office.

Aside from that, even for liberal Gillian Anderson — who once took a knee for the NFL…

…and definitely for Margaret Thatcher…the rage is out there.
