As Mayors in LA & NYC Promise to #Resist Immigration Enforcement, a Mom & Her Young Children are Murdered by a Twice-Deported Criminal

/// Morning: Here's a courtesy mug from the Polk County (Iowa) Jail. The man gave police the name of Marvin Esquivel-Lopez. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has since said he gave police a false name. ICE says he real name is Marvin Escobar-Orellana, 31, who is from Guatemala and is suspected of being in this country illegally. A NNow has moved dsa and to Iowa lines. A w-thru will move in the next hour or so. Here it is if you need more caption information. DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a Guatemalan man charged with killing an Iowa woman and her two children had been deported twice from the U.S. and is believed to be in the country illegally. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Wednesday night that 31-year-old Marvin Oswaldo Escobar-Orellana gave Des Moines police a false name, Marvin Esquivel-Lopez. Shawn Neudauer, an ICE spokesman, says Escobar-Orellana was deported in 2010 and again in 2011. In 2010, he was convicted of illegal entry into the U.S. He's accused of shooting 29-year-old Rossibeth Flores-Rodriguez, her 11-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son. Police say he had been living at the family's home and that they found no evidence that he had a personal relationship with the victims. Court records don't list an attorney who might comment on Escobar-Orellana's behalf. * Nelson Lampe [https://apps.polkcountyiowa.gov/PolkCountyInmates/CurrentInmates/GetInmateImage?nameId=1237944]

31-year-old Marvin Oswaldo Escobar-Orellana was arrested Tuesday after allegedly murdering the family with whom he lived in Des Moines.

As reported by the Associated Press, Marvin is supected of having shot to death 29-year-old Rossibeth Flores-Rodriguez and her two children: 11-year-old Grecia Daniela Alvarado-Flores and 5-year-old Ever Jose Mejia-Flores.

Marvin called 911 himself.

The Guatemalan — who’s in the country illegally — has a rich history with law enforcement. In 2010, he was deported due to an illegal entry conviction.

A court ordered him not to return.

2011 = deportation #2.

Marvin told a 911 operator Rossibeth had murdered her own children, and he’d had to kill her in self-defense. Authorities say that’s not what occurred, though it remains unclear why he slaughtered a mother and her two young kids.

He’s being charged with three counts of first degree murder.

Meanwhile, ICE intends to arrest and deport resistors court-ordered to self-deport via a series of raids (here). New York Mayor Bill de Blasio — as well as Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti — wants to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Bill had a message for illegal immigrants fitting the description above:

“This is your city.”

Police Chief Michel Moore offered Los Angeles this:

“We will not enforce immigration laws that are civil in nature and fall under the jurisdiction of the federal government.”
