During a taped interview Friday — which aired on Sunday’s Meet the Press — President Trump warned that, if the U.S. attacks Iran over its development of nuclear weapons, things are gonna get reeeal ugly:

“I’m not looking for war, and if there is, it’ll be obliteration like you’ve never seen before. But I’m not looking to do that. But you can’t have a nuclear weapon. You want to talk? Good. Otherwise you can have a bad economy for the next three years.”

Notably, Trump explained that he’s willing to have a sit-in with Iranian leaders to prevent such a Middle East malady.

The Prez’s remarks come after Friday’s hubbub over Iran’s Revolutionary Guard having shot down a U.S. spy drone over the Strait of Hormuz (here), which occurred amid already significant tension (here and here).

Trump called off a strike “10 minutes” before it was set for launch, citing the projected casualties.

Speaking to host Chuck Todd, the Commander-in-Chief called it a “modest but pretty, pretty heavy attack schedule.”

As I covered previously, for now, sanctions are the name of the game (here). They begin Monday.

But no matter what — and no matter what it takes to stop it — Trump warned, “They cannot have a nuclear weapon. … They cannot have a nuclear weapon. They’d use it. And they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon.”
