As I covered Sunday, last week the Trump administration denied U.S. embassies’ requests to fly the Gay Pride flag on official federal flagpoles (here).
The Donald went to bat for The Gays on Twitter, despite the flagpole flop:
As we celebrate LGBT Pride Month and recognize the outstanding contributions LGBT people have made to our great Nation, let us also stand in solidarity with the many LGBT people who live in dozens of countries worldwide that punish, imprison, or even execute individuals….

….on the basis of their sexual orientation. My Administration has launched a global campaign to decriminalize homosexuality and invite all nations to join us in this effort!

Nevertheless, some on the Left attacked the Commander-in-Chief for not sending a rainbow up the pole.
Meanwhile, Kirsten Gillibrand was waving in the wind like a raised, multicolored banner of “Hey! Look at me!”:

Is it just me, or is that uncomfortable to watch?
I pledge allegiance to pandering.
She’s following in deep Democratic footsteps:
Back to now, on Monday, VP Mike Pence backed up the State Department’s no-go on the flag.
It should be noted that the denial only concerned the official pole; flags can be displayed inside the embassies.
Here’s Mike, speakin’ to NBC News:
“I’m aware that the State Department indicated that on the flagpole of our American embassies that one flag should fly, and that’s the American flag. And I support that. … [W]hen it comes to the American flagpole at American embassies at capitals across the world, having the one American flag fly, I think, is the right decision.”
For emphasis:
“We put no restrictions on displaying any other flags or any other displays at our embassies beyond that.”
But what’s the White House doing, as per Ilhan Omar? It’s a bit of the ol’ big-time bigotry:
This is another blatant example of this administration’s bigotry and discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ community. https://t.co/K6Rt3O1LMg
— Ilhan Omar (@IlhanMN) June 10, 2019
The video Ilhan shared claims, “Day by day…our rights as LGBT+ Americans are being eroded with the removal of a guidance here, the rewriting of a policy there…”
How ’bout the rewriting of history?
For some reason, it seems a common method of Democratic political pursuit is to goofily claim a wholly different reality than has ever existed.
Are the rights of LGBT+ people being “eroded” daily, or have only recently in the history of the entire planet there ever existed any rights specifically geared toward gay or transgender Americans?
That’d be Answer B.
Robyn McCutcheon (quoted in the video) can relax and enjoy generally unprecedented accommodation — just kick back and display his flag. Chill out with Ilhan Omar. And have some hot sauce.
