On Thursday, Tucker Carlson laid into Robert Mueller on his Fox show.

Following a conversation with Department of Justice spokesman Ian Prior about Mueller’s Wednesday morning statement…

Oh, and if you’re not familiar with the statement, here’s a bit:

“If we had confidence that the President clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so. We did not, however, make a determination as to whether the President did commit a crime. The introduction to the volume two of our report explains that decision.”

Alan Dershowitz, by the way, wasn’t a fan. In his op-ed for The Hill, “Shame on Robert Mueller for Exceeding His Role,” he offered this:

“He went beyond the conclusion of his report and gave a political gift to Democrats in Congress who are seeking to institute impeachment proceedings against President Trump. By implying that President Trump might have committed obstruction of justice, Mueller effectively invited Democrats to institute impeachment proceedings. Obstruction of justice is a ‘high crime and misdemeanor’ which, under the Constitution, authorizes impeachment and removal of the president.”

And check out this line:

“By putting his thumb, indeed his elbow, on the scale of justice in favor of impeachment based on obstruction of justice, Mueller has revealed his partisan bias. He also has distorted the critical role of a prosecutor in our justice system.”

Good one.

Back to Tucker and his impression, he called Robert Mueller the kind of guy “you sort of admire from afar” but the “more you learn, it turns out that they are sleazy and dishonest.”

About finding nothing via the investigation, Tucker proposed to Ian, “And so that was not good enough for Robert Mueller, and he had to push the country toward impeachment because he thinks it’s good for the country? What’s the thinking here?”

The guest agreed:

“I guess that’s what it is. It is really unclear. It was bizarre.”

Tucker explained that he doesn’t believe Congress will move to impeach The Donald.

The Fox host said Robert “seems like a patriotic character and served his country in Vietnam. By all accounts, a decent man.” However, “He believes it’s good for America on the eve of another presidential election for the President to be impeached?”

Move the crane. To the Right. A little more. Okay, drop the bomb:

“You know, the saddest thing about this moment is all the people you sort of admire from afar, and then the more you learn, it turns out that they are sleazy and dishonest.”

BOOM!

“And I hate to say Robert Mueller winds up in that category,” he lamented. “[I]t pains me to say that.”

I said for a long time that the Mueller investigation would roam the earth longer than cockroaches and the Rolling Stones. But on March 22nd, I announced the end of the probe (here). As a writer, it was the best news I’d ever been able to report, because I was sick, sick, sick, sick, SICK of writing about it. Dear Lord, let it end!!!!

But not so fast. It’s still here — Democrats are still trying to milk it. But squeeze as they may that withered udder, the cow dried up a long time ago. Please, for the love of PETE, Dems, let it go.

You’re being paid a lot of money: Do something worthy of it.
