BIAS: You'll Shake Your Head at the Difference Between Public Education's Treatment of Ilhan Omar and President Trump

With an anti-Semitic Q that even Bill Maher’s observed, Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar has given people a lot not to like (here, here, and here).

But not so to Minneapolis public schools — in fact, young skulls full of mush are being told to write reports in tribute to the congresswoman representing America’s greatest terrorist recruitment stronghold (here).

According to Powerline, Ihan’s being portrayed as a veritable hero:

Omar is being raised to heroic status in her district’s public schools. Elementary school students are apparently being taught to revere her, much as, in recent years, they have been taught to see Martin Luther King, Jr. …

At least one school within the system is taking seriously that whole “person of color’ thing:

Someone has distributed an Ilhan card that students are instructed to color, while writing a “report” on the inside.

See the coloring-book salutes to Omar via this link. They give the impression of the controversial politician as saint, similar to this oldie-but-goodie public-school promotion of Obama:

School districts don’t seem so keen on supporting the current president.

Last year, an 18-year-old in Oregon was suspended for wearing a shirt with the caption “Donald J. Trump Border Wall Construction Co” (she sued, winning an apology and $25,000 in damages). Just last month, at least one Arizona student was allegedly suspended for sporting MAGA gear. And only weeks ago, a Long Island 11-year-old was reportedly told she couldn’t write a report on heroes with Donald Trump as her figure of choice (here). After all, said the teacher, he “spreads negativity and says bad stuff about women.”

Back to Omar — as pointed out by The Daily Wire, she’s done the following:

  • Accused her “Jewish colleagues” of “designing” a plan “to end the debate” on Israel by accusing her of being anti-Semitic.
  • Accused a Jewish congresswoman of wanting her to have dual loyalties to Israel.
  • Claimed that she does not understand why Jewish Americans would find her anti-Semitic comments to be offensive.
  • Supported anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaigns against Israel (Alex’s note: See here).
  • Compared Israel to Iran, which is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, and suggested that Israel should not be allowed to exist as a Jewish state.
  • Promoted the anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that pro-Israel groups were paying American politicians to have dual loyalties to Israel.

Could any of that fall into the category of “spreads negativity and says bad stuff about [other groups of people]”?

Our public schools are supposed to be subject to the public — aka, voters. Ilhan won her district fair and square, just as Trump won the presidency. Yet in the publicly-funded arena of academia, there appears to be much bias against the Commander-in-Chief. Meanwhile, taxpayers in Minnesota are bolstering the rise of the bullet points above.

If our schools are going to embrace those we have elected, they must do so equally. Furthermore, since no official is voted in by everyone, I’m not of the opinion any of them should be praised via mandate. Let’s leave that to places like North Korea.

And let’s return to that oft-quoted but little-followed edict of proper education: teach children how to think, not what to think.

If you disagree, you can order your Ilhan Omar coloring page from this site. You’ll have a blast…I hear she’s a veritable MLK — if “MLK” stands for Minnesota’s Left-Wing Knucklehead.
