On Friday night, former ACLU Executive Committee member Michael Meyers slammed the reparations movement, calling it “racial idiocy” and “buffoonery.”
Michael was on FNC’s The Ingraham Angle discussing ol’ Al Sharpton: Last week, Al asked Democratic 2020 candidates if they’d support a bill to study giving all black people money by taking all black people’s money — along with all white people’s money, as well as all Asian and Indian and Mexican people’s money — to give to all those black people. Because at one time, a few white people owned some black people. But now all people will have to fork over their dough.
Laura asked Michael if he thinks the whole thing’s a scam.
He said Yep:
“Of course, it is. It’s more of the Blame Whitey Movement. Mania. Madness. And it’s sheer racial rhetoric. And that’s what you get at the Al Sharpton so-called house of justice.”
Michael — who serves as executive director for the New York Civil Rights Coalition — also took aim at Sharpton’s National Action Network event, during which Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez imbecilically compared herself to Martin Luther King (here ; see MLK’s niece here):
“[A]t that house of so-called justice, you have either a horror picture show showing, or you have a farce. Either way, it is not to be taken seriously. I can’t understand how serious presidential contenders can give legitimacy to a racial blowhard, and I think it is outrageous and silly and idiocy on the part of the presidential candidates. Anybody who thinks that white Americans are going to take the blame or are going to feel guilty or give their land and their property away in some sort of reparations pot because they feel responsibility for the sins of their forebears, they’re not.”
The host and her guest went over a bit of the ridiculousness of reparations.
“The guy that came here from Serbia six months ago is going to have to write a check for a Somali refugee that came here 20 years ago.”
Back to Mike:
“It’s racial idiocy. … [I]t’s unintelligent. Nobody is giving up their house. Nobody’s giving up their land. Nobody’s giving away acres. The 40 acres are gone. Not even a building is going into that reparations pot. So what are they talking about? These people they are chasing farce.”
Michael labeled Sharpton a buffoon:
“I cannot take Al Sharpton seriously. The whole racial movement is anti-intellectual. It’s unintelligent. So I can’t take buffoonery serious.”
Strange — to watch the mainstream media, you may have the idea that all black Americans are Democrats and are all on the same page. Guess those weirdos are wrong.
And I’m thinkin’ Michael’s onto something.
Slavery is a human blight — not just on America, but all over the world, having oppressed various races. In fact, the word slave comes from the word “Slav,” as in “Slavic.” But nothing can be solved now for people who no longer walk the earth. Especially when some who walk the earth — and hold positions of political and social power — are goobers.
For more on the history of slavery, I encourage you to check out Thomas Sowell’s “The Real History of Slavery,” Chapter 3 in his excellent book Black Rednecks & White Liberals (here).
