Captain America? Chris Evans Says He 'Might Have to Cut Ties' with Tom Brady if He Supports Trump

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published Wednesday, Captain America actor Chris Evans had some staunch words for star quarterback Tom Brady and, well, you.

The conversation eventually turned to politics. He had thoughts:

“You don’t want to alienate half your audience.”

Then why do it?

“But I’d be disappointed in myself if I didn’t speak up. Especially for fear of some monetary repercussion or career damage — that just feels really gross to me.”

THR asked the Massachusetts native if he’d ever consider playing the QB of his favorite team.

His answer may disappoint some:

“I don’t know. I really hope he’s not a Trump supporter. I’m just hoping he’s one of those guys that maybe supported him and now regrets it. Maybe he thought it was going to be different — and even that bothers me — but maybe there’s a chance now he just thinks Trump’s an absolute dumb sh**, which he is. If he doesn’t, if he’s still on that Trump train, I might have to cut ties. It’s really tough.”

It’s tough when you like the way someone throws a ball, then you find out they vote differently than you?

Does he feel the same about Dan Crenshaw? The 37-year-old had an amiable meeting with the lieutenant commander-turned-congressman on March 8th to talk about veterans issues (here).

Dan supports Trump; so is Chris anti-Dan? This is what happens when people label the President as Satan: Those who respect his term are unfoundedly characterized as well.  How about instead of turning everyone into cartoons, we all just agree to disagree a little bit more?

Perhaps in lieu of that, Chris hopes Tom has awakened.

“I think maybe a couple of years ago, I might have tried to pull some, like, mental gymnastics to compartmentalize, but I don’t know if I can anymore. So I’m just hoping he’s woken up.”

America is comprised of both Republicans and Democrats; it’d be nice if Captain America was on the side of us all.
