It seems to me that we’re missing debate in this country.

And at least some of the time, it happens like this: the Right makes a point, and the Left responds with either, “So?” or “Hey — look over there!”

That helps no Americans. Including those who are Democrats.

One arena for the above is climate change. The Left went from saying, “Global warming is real” to “We’ll debate you” to “The debate is over.”

No debate ever occurred.

#FAIL.

And actually, let’s back up and do that once more: The Left went from saying, “Global freezing is real” to “Global warming is real” to “We’ll debate you” to “The debate is over.”

#DoubleFAIL

In lieu of debate, there can be no understanding. No resolve. No clarity. The Scientific Method is, at its essence, debate. It puts ideas to the test. Some on the Left would instead prefer to just say something is, because we know it is, and if you don’t think it is, then you don’t know what is. And you is dumb.

Sigh.

Our President is often indelicate; he’s brash, and rarely graceful in an argument. But — in my view — not only is it refreshing to get real talk from a politician, it’s much needed at this present political time. So here’s some necessary refreshment.

Ohhhhh YEAH.

On Sunday, as covered by RedState’s T.LaDuke, Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar announced her run for 2020 White House glory. As part of her Big Reveal, she promised to fight Al Gore’s greatest enemy:

“The people are on our side when it comes to climate change. Why? Because like you and I, they believe in science.”

She stood in front of the world, a member of the party fighting a sinisterly-heating-up world for the last three decades.

And she did so…in a snowstorm.

Cue RealTalk Donald:

“Well, it happened again. Amy Klobuchar announced that she is running for President, talking proudly of fighting global warming while standing in a virtual blizzard of snow, ice and freezing temperatures. Bad timing. By the end of her speech she looked like a Snowman(woman)!”

I’m constantly amazed by the incredible perspective that time gives. Lots of people who were playing with crayons — or didn’t yet exist — when Al Gore was trying to keep the planet from bursting into flames have no understanding that the community of climatologists previously preached an ice age, then preached a ball of fire. Recently, “warming” has been adjusted to “change.” Well, which is it? When are we going to ignite? Where’s the conclusive evidence that once-dynamic warnings are now permanently static? Climate and weather may be two different things; but the Left has been telling us temperatures — yes, practically, weather — are rising. We’re gonna cook.

Climate may be different than weather, but perspective and understanding are different than only knowing what’s currently being said, by a community that can’t make up its mind. And accepting something without debate is different than seeing a case proved beyond scrutiny.

And Donald Trump is different than your typical politician. And I’m glad.
