TRUMP: I'll Get the Military to Build the Wall if Congress Won't Fund It

Despite some wins for the Dems in November, Donald Onward Trump has spelled out his determination to get the much-touted wall built, by any means necessary.

A couple weeks ago, Trump told The Washington Post he had a backup plan if Democrats balked, although he noted that they may be willing to vote for funding (please see here).

On Tuesday — in anticipation of his important pow-wow with Schumer and Pelosi — he reiterated his commitment via a series of tweets, saying the military will build the wall if congressional left-wingers won’t take part in its construction. He also championed the barricade which has, so far, kept out thousands in the Central American migrant caravans (here, here, here, and here):

“Despite the large Caravans that WERE forming and heading to our Country, people have not been able to get through our newly built Walls, makeshift Walls & Fences, or Border Patrol Officers & Military. They are now staying in Mexico or going back to their original countries. Ice, Border Patrol and our Military have done a FANTASTIC job of securing our Southern Border. A Great Wall would be, however, a far easier & less expensive solution. We have already built large new sections & fully renovated others, making them like new. The Democrats, however, for strictly political reasons and because they have been pulled so far left, do NOT want Border Security. They want Open Borders for anyone to come in. This brings large scale crime and disease. Our Southern Border is now Secure and will remain that way. I look forward to my meeting with Chuck Schumer & Nancy Pelosi. In 2006, Democrats voted for a Wall, and they were right to do so. Today, they no longer want Border Security. They will fight it at all cost, and Nancy must get votes for Speaker. But the Wall will get built…People do not yet realize how much of the Wall, including really effective renovation, has already been built. If the Democrats do not give us the votes to secure our Country, the Military will build the remaining sections of the Wall. They know how important it is!”

Wow.

Republicans say at least $5 billion is needed for the wall, whereas Democrats have only been willing to appropriate $1.3.

Legislators have already given the green light to almost 75% of government operation, but a partial shutdown due to an impasse as of the Friday-before-Christmas deadline is entirely possible.

This is Donald Stand-My-Ground Trump we’re talking about.

CNBC had this to say:

Trump has pushed for $5 billion to build the physical barrier on the U.S.-Mexico border, calling it essential to cracking down on illegal immigration, an issue that he considers “a total winner” politically. Democrats and even some Republicans consider the wall not only inhumane but also ineffective.

Having a border is inhumane??

Also:

At least two possible solutions have surfaced: approving a smaller chunk of money for border security, or extending current funding levels for up to a year and passing off the political battle to the next Congress.

“Republicans still control the House, the Senate, and the White House, and they have the power to keep government open. Our country cannot afford a Trump Shutdown, especially at this time of economic uncertainty,” Pelosi and Schumer said in a joint statement Monday. “This holiday season, the president knows full well that his wall proposal does not have the votes to pass the House and Senate, and should not be an obstacle to a bipartisan agreement.”

Well, servicepeople, ready your brick trowels, line winders, brick jointers, and masonry brushes. Y’all might soon be going to work for Foreman Trump.
