Here’s a story you won’t hear much about in the mainstream media.

We know guns can do a lot of things: accidentally fire, killing an innocent person; be used in mass murder, killing lots of innocent people; be employed as an instrument of suicide, killing an innocent person.

But what about the (non-hunting) purpose for which most people actually own a gun — self-defense?

As it turns out, a gun’ll do it to it.

Pickens County inmate Bruce McLaughlin escaped!

30-year-old McLaughlin broke out of a South Carolina jail late Monday night and was free as a bird. And what do smart escape convicts do upon winning their liberty? They immediately commit another crime.

That was kind of his jam: “Big guy” McLaughlin’d been in jail about a dozen times — for shoplifting, assaulting a police officer, and drug possession, among other endeavors.

Just hours after making a dash for freedom, McLaughlin kicked in a woman’s back door. Around 3 a.m., he commandeered a knife-sharpening tool from the kitchen, and hoofed it toward her bedroom.

She was all alone.

Except for her little friend.

A friend with bullets inside it.

It gets even crazier: She actually knew how to use her gun. She’d previously taken concealed weapons training — an anti-2nd-Amendment activist’s worst nightmare.

Things didn’t go as McLaughlin had planned: She gifted him a single shot to the head, and now he’s playing a harp. Still wearing that orange jump suit.

Sheriff Rick Clark praised her moves:

“This was a big guy. If she hadn’t had a weapon, there’s no telling what would have happened. I gave her a big hug. I told her how proud I was of her.”

Such stories make the local news routinely — like the heroic, gun toting dad in Alabama (here) or the pistol-packing Walmart pastor (here); but where are CNN and MSNBC in those cases? Where is NPR? They — along with much of the Left (here, here, and here) — are looking for the next catalyst to ignite their perpetual war against the AR-15 and the NRA.

Meanwhile, in regular America, people embrace their rights. And sometimes, they clutch them in a way that saves their lives or the those of their loved ones. Tonight in South Carolina, there’s a lady who meant business and took care of it. And the 2nd Amendment did its job once again.

“The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”
