Its Own Medicine: Writhing from the Foreign Invasion of Caravans, Mexico Invokes Deportation

Talk about unlikely.

Mexico — the single greatest exporter of citizens the U.S. has to deport — is touting deportation itself. Apparently, a city south of the border is getting a little taste of foreign invasion.

On Thursday, Tijuana Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum declared that the migrant caravans coming through aren’t welcome.

Not welcome???? Say it ain’t so!

He even described the group as a “horde.” Isn’t that racist?

— I don’t know how, but the Left keep saying any negative words about anyone who isn’t white is racist. So I’m just trying to be on the right side of signaled virtue.

In an interview with Mexican publication Milenio, the mayor dropped his gavel:

“Tijuana is a city of immigrants, but we don’t want them in this way.”

Hey — that sounds like something I’ve heard before.

“It was different with the Haitians, they carried papers, they were in order. It wasn’t a horde, pardon the expression.”

Is Gastelum talking about Tijuana or the U.S.?

Does this make America reasonable, like him? Or does it only make him evil, like America?

Maybe evil — he used the “D” word:

“You’re going to tell me we have to respect human rights. But human rights are for law-abiding humans.”

WHAT????????

What sorcery is THIS????? Did Donald Trump possess Juan Manuel Gastelum?

It looks as if Mexico is getting a taste of its own medicine.

From the Daily Mail:

“Mexican authorities said Friday more than 2,000 Central Americans from a migrant caravan heading toward the United States have now reached the border city of Tijuana, where they have received a sometimes cold welcome.

“Waves of migrants from the main caravan — which numbers around 5,500 people in all — have been converging on the northern Mexican city since Sunday, undeterred by US President Donald Trump’s deployment of thousands of troops to the border.”

Tijuana has reason to be concerned: as a border city, it’s sure to be a sitting place for Central Americans who reach the fence and are impeded by national security. They can certainly climb it (here), but Trump has forces awaiting the “horde” (here and here).

When they can’t get in, Viva Tijuana!

And it’s a lot of people: as reported by Presa Latina, “About 8,000 Migrants Travel Through Mexico on Their way to U.S.”

It’s an interesting development: a country unsympathetic to America’s illegal immigration problem is facing a crisis of undocumented and unwelcome travelers, if not settlers. At the same time, the Left — which seems to fully embrace the moral superiority of Mexico — should be forced to condemn its Trumpish “obey the law or get deported” talk.

How will it all end up? Surely consistency will demand a resolve. Unless, of course, the Left or Mexico is hypocritical. But surely that cannot be.

The homeless migrants are trusting Mexico to be on their side. If they find they’re getting screwed, they can sojourn in Guadalajara: the city allows public intercourse (here).
